He may be on this board, as it looks like SF Bay. Curious if you've ever heard of F-Type catching fire? I mean... I've had a muffler issue, a CEL issue, or a battery port issue, but nothing like this.

Just curious if this is a "thing", or just isolated?

Wait, the guy claims he has 3 F types? This doesn't seem credible either....

In that second reddit thread he states that he bought them to be used as rental vehicles for his TURO business. His personal insurance rejected his claims as he did not tell his insurance company that he was using the cars for business purposes. Many people renting cars through TURO try to skirt the commercial insurance requirements due to the expense and as long as nothing goes wrong, they get away with it. When something like this happens, they get caught with their pants down and then start looking for other ways to recover compensation.

There a very popular lady who even talks about how she was able to successfully run her TURO business without taking out "business insurance" but that she knew she needed to start ponying up for the correct insurance. It should be interesting to see if he takes out additional commercial insurance for the balance of his fleet in the future. Fully expect this person to make all kinds of logic justification for only using personal insurance because that is what others have been doing successfully, the car wasn't being rented when this occurred, my cat ate my homework, yeah commercial would have covered it but have you seen how MUCH they want for coverage, etc

I recollect seeing some pics of one that spontaneously combusted on the German Autobahn.

OK, found it, a 2014 vert, a V6 I think:

There were a couple of relevant recalls at the time related to wiring placement and interference with moving parts on the accessory drive. At the time, a bunch of naysayers were trying to lay blame on tunes being applied to the V6 cars.

NHTSA does not appear to have any reports on this.
