HEADLINER removal?? 15' F-type R
Hi all - Been searching on this forum for a while now and I don't see any DIY directions for the R&R of the Headliner board in an F-type. Would appreciate any direction or insights into removing it! My leather headliner has failed big time and I need to remove the entire headliner board for a new headliner (which I'm not going back with the leather...it will fail again in the hot state of TX!)
Mine is also failing in patches, it seems like the yellow sponge material is disintegrating. Just used some spray adhesive to fix the hanging part by the door seal, too embarrassing to live with..
i haven’t looked into removing it yet, but iirc you have to remove the quarter windows for it to come out in one piece. And then some usual anchor point like the Sun visors, reading light area, roof support pillar behind the seat and alone the door seal.

UPDATE! Well I got motivated because it didn't get over 100 here in Dallas today and decided to start the removal process out in the driveway. 4 hours later and it's out (with the help of my son). Now I know why the dealer wants like $4k to do this job! It's a Whippin! I'm taking the entire headliner to a professional to see if they want to re-glue the leather or just swap it out for Alcantara or similar material that's not near as heavy as the leather. I've got a black interior with the red seat belts and red stitching....thinking maybe a nice matching red for the headliner might jazz it up inside?
Reviving this thread, versus starting a new one, as it helped me find this link: Leather headliner sagging. - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
This was a huge help in addition to the following service manual: HEADLINER - COUPE.pdf
I was able to get my old one out today and replace with a newer one (that was not sagging). A few tips that are not mentioned in the earlier thread.

- Cover your dash/steering wheel with a beach towel or something to prevent scratching anything while taking the old one out.
- Take your time when removing the B-Pillar trim covers that hide the Torx 25 bolt for the rear side glass, the rubber piece WILL rip right off. T2R11563 and T2R11564 are the replacement part numbers if needed (like I will).
- I was able to find a complete replacement off ebay from a wrecked car in perfect condition. $500 USD shipped. Beats the $1k+ cost for parts alone from Jag (which is also backordered) or the $1k+ cost to have someone recover it.
- The rear-view mirror and A-pillars covers DO NOT need to be removed. Just moved down the the loose to get the headliner out.
- Keep the sun visors and overhead console in the original headliner (you can remove them once it is out of the car).
- It is a LONG process to get this in and out. Taking the side quarter glass is not hard, just tedious. Try not to rip any of the rubber seals as that will be a royal PITA later to fix.
- The covers that are behind the drivers/passenger headrests are a pain to snap back into place if everything is not aligned. Easier to do this by sitting in the trunk.
- Also, the center clip that the headliner "slides" onto is prone to break. I finally gave up trying to use it and left it out of the car. I placed a generic clip in it's place that seems to be working just fine.
