Default Hello

Hello

Have been a member in the past with a series 3 XJ6 Sovereign

Am about to be the very proud but much poorer owner of a 12 month old Italian Racing Red F-Type S V6 Convertible with black pack and some other fruit.

Can hardly wait the week until I pick it up, am still jangling from the test drive.

Have a long history with British cars having had a Hillman Hunter, UK built Ford Cortina, MGA, SIII XJ6, Land Rover Disco's 1,2 and currently a 3.

When I first saw the F-Type I knew I had to have one.

Hope to one day have an XK 150 but that will have to wait till I can afford to have a $100k car that doesn't need to be a daily driver.
I spend way too much time hanging around on Land Rover forums so thought I might mix it up a bit.

Congratulations and not to worry AnD3rew, we've all been jangled here test driving and owning our F-Types...whatever jangled means.

Best of luck!

So just picked it up and had my first run.

Wow, just wow.

This is a truly awesome car never driven anything like it. The responsiveness, the sound the tightness.

Only slightly marred by two reciurring warning lights, the tyre pressure monitor is showing a faint which baht clear and the check engine light keeps coming on.

Took it back to the dealer. He says combination of low battery voltage from sitting on the dealer floor for a month and an oxygen sensor fault.

He claims they should all clear by themselves after some continuos running but none of it is interfering with the performance of the car, so not overly concerned.

Hey AnD3rew - congratulations on the new fun machine!

I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I am. (I just came back from a one hour cruise along the bay and back which I seem to be finding an excuse to go and do every few nights!)

Out of interest, have you checked the tyre pressures anyway. I've read a few stories on here of under inflated tyres after dealer pickup. They should all be on 31psi, I think.

36psi. Check the label in the driver's door opening.

36 psi is correct.

They usually come off the boat over-inflated, and the experience of many is that dealers forget to adjust the pressures. Mine had 45 psi cold when I checked it the morning after delivery.

Thanks for that. Yes I will check this morning.

Other thing you have to get used to is that the rear is wider than the front, I managed to clip a gutter with the rear wheel going around a corner which gave me a sick feeling, but appears no damage. (After the tyre pressure fault so not related)

Yes, it is a very wide car, which takes some getting used to. 3 of our work car parks require parking the left side of the car hard up against a concrete wall. Made me very nervous every time I attempted it (so I changed our car parking policy to ensure I have a guaranteed park in a spot where I was further away from walls and the other cars - you gotta have some perks for sitting in the big chair )

Thanks, DJS. I must have been thinking of the thread about dropping tyre pressure when tracking.

Yes mine is the first day of car at work. Ours is an open carpark, but I deliberately parked close against a retaining wall so it would only be exposed to other cars opening doors on one side and had a little more room on that side. Sadly I only sit in the second biggest chair and only my boss gets his own space.

Welcome, Andrew! Be prepared for lots of attention as I have IRR also and get as many compliments on the color as the car itself.

That looks fantastic, my XK R-S is IRR. It has such depth and changes based on the time of day and lighting source. Enjoy

Here is mine. Got it Jan 3. Had to get it from dealer stock so no black pack and 20 in rims. Looks much fiercer with the black.

Just clay bar and wax results.
