Question Hood Vents

Anyone find any that doesn't allow a LARGE amount of water in?

Talking about some for the V6,

My hood vents allow only a little dribble in, even in heavy rain.
2014 V6S (MY2015) with the original non-honeycomb vents, ie just a narrow horizontal slot with cross-hatching in each.
And that is after I Dremelled the slots/openings wider to allow more heat dissipation.
This style: https://www.ebay.com/itm/33578924877...Bk9SR_q9tKnEZQ
Edit - That ad is for one only vent but there is a linked ad for the other side, and combined they are asking for nearly $400 US, pretty damn steep IMHO!
Thing is I still have the original vents from my car (I bought another set on Fleabay to modify - Dremell - and that set is still on the car to this day).
Maybe we can make a deal for my spare/original set if you really want them?
They are still in as new condition, no scratches or defects.

Default I bought these JLR vents

These are particularly nice... add a bit of chrome trim along with the black. Easy enough to pop out the old ones, but tie a string to them so they don't slide down and scratch the bonnet/hood finish. They do protect the engine compartment. There is just a small slit of honeycomb, vertically, along the curved edge/side.

Part numbers:
right side:

left side:

https://accessories.jaguar.com/gl/en...ome-left-side/

I paid $74.96 (new) each in July of 2021, they are $94 each now.

The part numbers for the gloss black version of these are T2R28105 and T2R28103. Realize that JLR probably wll not be manufacturing these so inventory will eventually depleate to 0

I got the ones Valerie shows to replace the open mesh. My thinking at the time was more sunlight bleaching of the parts visible through the mesh, since the engine cover was already showing signs. After a few years one started to delaminate so I got carbon fiber NOS on closeout (with matching side vents). I ran without an engine cover after that but put that back on after removing the symposer. I was able to see how much water can collect in the engine V.

Fyi Harper Jaguar wants $79 for shipping to me in the Seattle area. Pretty high price for sending relatively light weight parts. I ended up buying a pair from Rimmer Bros out of the UK https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-T2R28103 and https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-T2R28105

Yes their shipping costs are obscene. I'm not sure who is doing their shipping quotes for them, but way out of line. Yes, postage costs have gone up, but $79 to Seattle from Harper is a bit too much, and yes, those vents aren't that heavy.
I've also had better luck putting the JLR part number in an Ebay search, save the search, and see what pops up. I got the set of 3 rubber/plastic front lip spoilers for a fraction of JLR, and they were new, in JLR packaging.

A lot of on line companies just make their profit on the freight. Sell the item for the lowest price anywhere, then get your profit on the freight when no one seems to care.

Real price is item cost plus freight. Not just part cost.

Default Parts and shipping NUTS!!!!

Looks like you got a good price. I found that I could order Tex wiper blades for my 69 E from Tex in England and have them shipped to US cheaper than buying them here. I did find this link to Jaguar of Palm Beach that appeared to offer a bit more reasonable shipping, but the PRICE is now the obscene amount.... @ $17 to ship the vents I bought, but the vents are $140!

I finally got the new pair of R style hood vents from Rimmer Bros. out of the UK. I just popped out the old ones and these look much better!

Piggy backing

Anyone found good Carbon ones for the SVR? We have a have a 2017 SVR with a carbon package from factory but the vents are still gloss black while the wing, mirrors, and interior are carbon and think that would look good to match

Looks like I will be hanging on to my pristine used pair for a few years yet while they appreciate like crazy, I might sell them when the price hits $1,000!

I went by Jaguar and parts guy said they were were for the R. But maybe the later v6's, as mine is a 15 and it is not even close to mine.

These were a straight drop-in to replace the OEM "waffle" style vents on my '16 v6
