Default How did this bumper crack happen?

Hi All,

Planned on doing some washing today and found this crack in the front lower right bumper. I have no idea how this happened. Any thoughts? No paint damage, the crack doesn't go to the edge. I took it to a body shop for a quote and the guy was confused too. Any suggestions on what I should do? Plastic weld was quoted at 1200 and I assume a new bumper would be 2500. I guess getting a OEM R exhaust on my V6S will have to wait...

I guess you ran over a curb or such when entered a driveway or carpark and hit the bottom of the sill on the curb.. Must have damage/scratces on the bottom of the sill, just before the wheel..

To repair it will be costly as they have to spray. I once had a damage like this on the front bumper of an old type SMART 42, and its not a DIY job it you want it invisible...

You can glue it with special glue [ first have to find out the type of plastic used ], and cover the sill with some kind of sticker.. ... but you must like that kind of thing, otherwise it keeps
annoying you...

Has to be from a curb strike, as it appears to be too low to have been caused by another car.

I checked the underside of the front diffuser, and didn't feel anything messed up. But the deeper plastic bit (the protective plastic) seems to be roughed up. Well life is too short to not drive your dream car. Maybe when I decide to pull the trigger on the P7 grill (probably DM you later in the year Unhingd), I'll get another bumper .
