Default How-to: Verifying your TPMS frequences

I've seen an issue pop-up a few times for those of with aftermarket wheels and aftermarket TPMS sensors.

"I bought the right TPMS sensors and they don't work!"

And the problem turns out to be an incorrect frequency due to Jaguar changing frequencies mid-production.

My 2016 F-Type S manual, built early, has 433mHz. But many have 315mHz.

I didn't want to find out the hard way that I bought an incorrect sensor!

On Amazon, I bought an Autel TS401 tool. That will let you scan sensors to check the frequency.

Within five minutes of receiving it, I was able to verify that my car had 433mHz sensors (which I then purchased on TireRack.)

I'm sure a friendly tire shop may do this for you as well.

Hope that helps ease your TPMS anxiety!

You bought a $127 tool for yourself just to use for that? I thought I was bad .

Shouldn't any tire shop be able to have a tool and test for you, probably for free?

Not knocking you at all. I have so many one-use tools on my wall it is nuts.
