Default How will the f-coupe-r handle in winter?

Was considering a F-coupe R, but with summer high performance tires, it would be useless in temps below 40 degrees. Anybody have experience with this?

Thanks

I live in Atlanta area in Georgia and we have hot summers. We also have snowy winters now apparently. I have driven my M3 a few times in the snow and my M3 runs some pretty sporty rubber. I did not really notice an exaggerated loss of traction. I mean if there's ice the car will slide. If I floor it the car will slide on snow but it was nothing scary or unpredictable. So I never really understand these useless in temps below 40 degrees type questions. I may be missing something. Of course New Jersey will have much harsher winters so maybe my comment is out of place? Well that was my experience at least.

If considering dropping $100k on an R coupe, why not just buy a cheaper car for the winter days when you need it and save the Ftype from all the salt and sand?

I drive my XF SC in winter. With the 470 hp, Nokian winter tires and snow mode, it is challenged to get up steep inclines with icy snow. If I had an f type I don't think I would subject it to the salt, sliding into curbs, and hidden potholes. My XF's wear comes mostly from winter driving.

RWD will never be good in the snow. With a really good set of snow tires it should bearable.

High performance rubber doesn't work in the winter. It's not designed to do so. It can feel like you are driving with blocks of ice at each corner.

Thats what winter tires are designed for. RWD with the proper shoes in winter or even snow is an outright blast. I drove a 911 in several winters and it takes a little practice but is huge fun!

It all depends how you're measuring "good".

An empty parking lot with snow and RWD sounds extremely good to me!
