Default Introduction

Looking to move from a 2006 911S to an F-Type. Still sorting out all the models/years. Condition, color and owner history ultimately wins out for me.

Kyle welcome and best wishes in your search as it can be a daunting one in this market. But there are so many enjoyable facets of the Ftype to consider in your search.

Do you have a budget? Coupe or convertible? Manual or Auto? RWD or AWD?

Let's face it. Nothing is better than a 911. It does everything better. Just looking for a new experience.

Yes they are better in many ways but very boring to look at. They are not unique and you see them coming and going every day. They cannot compare, f type is visually sexy and outstandingly beautiful . Porsche look very pedestrian and they look alike, very boring IMHO. The f type looks sexy, exhaust sound is sexy and the leather interior is sweet , enough said. Good luck with your search. You’ll love the f type and you will not see yourself at every corner. They only make approximately 350 total units per month.

Haha. I don't live in LA, so 911s are rare, too. And Speed Yellow is pretty sexy.

Nothing - except for the fun factor. F-Type hands down.

911 is certainly better at anonymity. Hardly anyone will notice you, compliment your car, or ask what it is. Slower cars are less likely to move out of your way, and more likely to pull out in front of you. Not as likely to egg on a hungry muscle car.

Having just upgraded to an SVR. If you are willing to look at used, slightly used or I believe their may be one new 2020 SVR, it may be the closest to a 911. 2021 and 22's are supposed to have some of the enhancements previously made to the SVR. Welcome and Happy Shopping.

The point I've been trying to make is that I'm not trying to have another 911-like experience. I want a Jag experience!

SVR hands down

Go for a 2017 or 2018 for the full auditory experience (back when they had the factory burble tune). Or get a newer one and tune it.

I just tested a 991.2 Turbo S last weekend. One of the most boring cars I’ve driven. Unbelievably quick and technically excellent, but it is a cold machine. Did launch control twice on it - felt my stomach drop from the speed but it sounds like a vacuum cleaner at full tilt. I can see the appeal and why many older guys who still want a sports car like them, but they just aren’t for me.

The F-Type is far more rare, eye catching, visceral (I have an AWD R with lots of mods) than 911 for sure. I have a 911 TT, Boxster S, Cayenne S and a few others(and have owned over 20 P-Cars)....And the F-Type is my favorite to drive currently. With over $30K in upgrades on my 911TT, nothing can touch it at the 1/2 mile airstrip races (or anywhere for that matter....I beat many superbikes at the events also)...But with roughly ~$15K in the F-Type R...Despite its big bones and shopping in the Plus Size sections It is pretty damn close to the 911 Turbo. And sounds soooo much better.

Get what works for you, but I would say you will enjoy the Jag. A little lower build quality than the P-Cars, but not much...A slight bit more fragile...but again, not much...And many more compliments when driving...or at car events or races.

Good luck. Just a point of reference for you...

Depending on whether you need AWD for weather, the RWD 6's and 8's are a lot of fun. Light at the front end, playful at the back, Jag is/was known for setting up their cars that way. The RWD 8 (pre-2018 I think) is plenty powerful enough stock, the 6 is too but some very cheap modding will take it to a free revving 450hp which makes for a fantastic drive. But then the 8's (AWD or RWD) are hard to beat for sound....ahhhh, choices...

Enjoy the search, the cars are pretty addictive.

The F Type is waaaay better than a 911 [I used to be a 911 guy]. The F type has beauty and soul in spades.

A 911 is like a perfect-looking [German] model who makes love like a robot. An F Type is like having the most naturally beautiful down-to-earth girl move next door [and she likes you!!]. The next move is yours...

They both work but only one of the cars in this photo is beautiful. Brawn = Porsche; Brawn + Beauty = Jaguar
