Jaguar future conversation
It's basically like they've gathered all the Jaguar slams they could find from other publications and videos, put it all together, and regurgitated it ;-)
They're on their way! Impressive.
They're on their way! Impressive.
Yes, they did. And they were absolutely spot on.
The world maybe moving towards EV's, but not 100% by 2025. Inventory is already building up, price points are eroding, and competitors are already falling by the wayside.
F-Type is a great car, but Jaguar is killing it.
F-Pace is a good SUV, but Jaguar has not announced a replacement in the EV space. (Maybe ceding to LR?)
The F-Pace space would have been a better EV candidate than 4-door sedans.
Jaguar's current sedans don't fit with its traditional image of styling and luxury.
The brands worldwide sales trends are a disaster.
Making a sedan the leading foray into the new brand direction will be a challenge in today's market.
And, even though their derisive comments about British electronics are dated - they very much reflect a broad public perception, and therefore a challenge if the brands wants to reposition itself with the likes of Bentley and Maybach.
And, even though I've owned multiple Jag's over the years (and 3 currently), they haven't shown me anything that makes me think I would ever buy another one.
Like them, I wish the brand well, but I'm not optimistic about its future.
Sad.

I'd be willing to bet that the F-Pace, at minimum, will be returning for the 2025 model year. Given that they are launching some GT car thing in their EV lineup the F-type is off the table for sure. That would be a pisser anyway for people thinking that they were buying the last year F-type with the special edition and all that, and then they changed their minds on it...No concerns of that anyway given that it is niche, not high volume enough, etc...
I said it here months ago, Jaguar's decision to go all electric was suicidal, the beginning of the end.
That is IF they really do go all electric, I agree with DMeister that reality will raise it's ugly head and prevent this from happening, so Jaguar's death will be a slow drawn out process rather than a sudden implosion. I also predicted a few months ago that Tata will offload the Jaguar side of JLR in the not too distant future and probably to a Chinese company.

Just leave the F-type alone. EV the f pace and hybridize the f type for performance only...with an option to change the battery for more power as tech allows (wish there was a standard formfactor for batteries........there will be a better battery.
Wow, okay, interesting...This is the closest thing that I've seen so far that would suggest that their plans are not going accordingly plan. Very interesting.
And getting rid to dozens of dealers is certainly not helping. And that includes me, since my local dealer was one of them. Now I'd have to travel 500 to 600 miles for the closest one... if I buy a P450.
I would like to suggest that there is nothing worth driving 500+ miles for [yet to have your car serviced]. I am not so happy contemplating a 48 mile trip to an independent now that my car is out of warranty. If you are seriously considering such, perhaps it's time to consult a local head headshrinker and see if they can identify the etiology of such masochistic tendencies.
This is still in line with what JLR originally said. They would only be producing electric vehicles starting in 2025. Model year and calendar year are different, so they may still continue to produce MY25 in 2024, as most manufacturers do. Seeing as how JLR sells, on average, about 4x as many F-Paces annually as F-Types, they're probably sunsetting the vehicles based on inventory (parts and vehicles), amortization of tooling costs, production capacity, and customer demand.
While I agree that Jaguar cannot survive as we know it without continuing to sell ICE vehicles after 2025, this doesn't really contradict their original position.

The post above is explicitly advertising F pace model year 2025.
I personally am starting to believe that their plans are off course, but so far it's hard to say this with absolute certainty.
Their plans were bonkers to begin with, so if they are off course it's all good.
