Jaguar's June 2014 US sales
428 F Types were sold in June besting the 312 XF sales and the 408 XJ sales. The XK must have sold 115 units, as Jaguar did not report the number for the model but did report total sales for the month of 1263 units. Good month for the F (the 428 sales was slightly up on June 2013) but not really a great number for Jaguar overall which saw total sales down by 23%... Range Rover, of course, continues to knock it out of the park and they are again up with over 4000 units shifted….
Wonder how long it will be before we see Jag and LR dealers combine? With these volumes you’d have to think it makes less sense to maintain two dealer networks. With that said, the Jag SUV and upcoming 3-Series competitor should hopefully drive a pretty decent upturn in sales. Jaguar's issue is that they can't sell you a car for less than 50K MSRP in the US right now - it has a much, much higher market entry point than all of its key competitors....

Interesting results. The news release is here: Jaguar Land Rover Reports U.S. Sales for June 2014
Am guessing the end-of-life for the XK is driving some tapering in the overall volumes. The F-type volumes continue to show decent strength.
I'm on the fence on the XE....personally I'd prefer that Jaguar remain upmarket from MB/BMW and achieve better scale through synergies with Land Rover (e.g. through dealer consolidation as swajames suggested) rather than overextend the brand as MB/BMW have done.
There are still vibrant competitive slots available for a 2+2 GT (XKR replacement), a grand coupe (MB CLS or CL / BMW 6 grand coupe competitor), SUV (synergies with land rover would be tremendous obviously), and hybrid/electric models without needing to push a 3-series competitor. If Jaguar attempts to go head-to-head with BMW/MB they run the risk of diluting the prestige of the brand and ending up in an undifferentiated and distance 3rd place behind the two.
The success of the F-Type, to me, points to a competitive strategy that has Jaguar focusing on their heritage of delivering uniquely designed, evocative cars that sell at the higher end of the market and inspire a loyal following. Diluting the brand risks alienating owners who have bought into the Jaguar's current prestige.

I'm guessing there are a TON of F-Type coupe orders in the system and that their total sales will skyrocket from this point until the end of the year...every dealer I spoke with told me their order bank was off the charts.
As far as looks go, this car has it in spades and after all the years of buying automobiles, most all cars are still purchased on looks and styling...and plainly put...Jaguar clearly hit it out of the park with this design.

Most of the dealers in California are already combined Jaguar/Land Rover dealerships. Only a handful, that I am aware of, only carry one brand or the other.
The dealership here is a combined dealership. The Jaguar dealership in the northern part of the state, that I've have purchased from twice is now combined with LR looks like that is becoming more common.
Not quite.... The LR and Jaguar dealers are separate here in San Jose...

The san jose jag dealer told me they sold the lr franchise a few years ago, oh the poor timing. They are unhappy about it now.
A friend here in los gatos owns a dealership and wanted to get a jlr dealership and couldn't, apparently jlr promises exclusivity so they limit how many therr are.

Have to say I found the LR dealer in San Jose to be horrific to work with. One particular sales guy there was perhaps the worst I've ever dealt with... When I bought my LR, San Jose had the car I wanted but the sales guy was a complete nightmare. I ended up having the dealer in Monterrey trade one of their cars for the car I wanted in San Jose and I bought that specific car from LR of Monterey. Much, much better experience, and a much, much better price that San Jose were offering the exact same car....
