Default Keyless entry not working

Hey everyone,

recently got an f-type (2014 base convertible), loving it so far. But... have been trying to figure out why the keyless entry won’t work. Here are the symptoms, open to thoughts, won’t be able to get to the dealer for a week so figured I would see if I can figure it out in the meantime.

1. No response from buttons on door handles either side when car is locked
2. Trunk button is unresponsive when locked
3. Trunk opens by pressing button on trunk when unlocked
4. Pressing either door handle in fully it immediately pops back out. (No sounds or beeps)
5. Pressing handle twice to lock does nothing.

things I already tried based on others with issues:

1. Keyfobs work (replaced the batteries in both) they lock and unlock with no issue.
2. Tried both fobs on their own
3. Fob closer or further from the door

Are you sure you have keyless entry? I think it is an option rather than standard.

+1. I just checked my 2014 Sales Catalog. The Base model did not offer keyless entry as a standard feature, only keyless start.

It has it on the original window tag as an option under premium pack

And you mentioned buttons on the handles - think those are only present with keyless entry. Sounds like a question for the dealer, unfortunately.

Quick reboot would be an easy place to start;

Unlock the boot (trunk), pull either Pos or Neg off the battery and leave it for half a minute disconnected...

Reconnect and voila....or not?

+1. Otherwise the keyless entry control module is probably fried.

Must be fried gave the battery a go and no luck there. Might try pulling the fuse if I can locate it.

Hi,

I had EXACTLY the same symptons and took mine to the dealer ...... They diagnosed that the module in the car was not working and I got it replaced under warranty ...... They said the cost outside of warranty would have been around £1500 sterling ......
