Some people like visual mods, others performance, and some both, but a couple pounds isn’t going to make or break anything related to performance. Wanna cut weight, run around your neighborhood in a trash bag for 30 minutes and lose 5 pounds. Do that every day for a month and you’ve accomplished the same thing as you would spending $6k on forged wheels.
You can't measure unsprung weight like that. Losing 10 lbs per wheel far exceeds the driver losing 40 lbs in many ways.

Thank you for taking that completely out of context and missing the point

Had you left off the statement "Do that every day for a month and you’ve accomplished the same thing as you would spending $6k on forged wheels", then you would have made a very valid point. Extending the argument to unsprung weight changed the context and derailed the point.

not true, there are various forged wheel options with different weights/offsets etc and I would bet there are multiple combinations of weight reduction that would provide similar performance outputs as some configurations of wheels and tires. That said, I had no intent to get into a discussion about unsprung weight and the associated performance benefits. I’ll be more careful with future posts so I don’t upset the community of unsprung weight and performance experts. I’m sure some one can also prove how adding a carbon fiber gauge bezel actually diminishes the cars ability to corner.

You guys are going to make me go on a diet.
I already have forged wheels on order anyway.

Could be just the web, but you're coming across like I stole your bubble gum. Your main point is spot on. These overlays will not change the performance of the car. At all.

I dare you to try and steal my bubble gum......it’s in the center console with my chapstick - both are adding more weight to my already sluggish car.

Whoa! How much does 3 or 4 flavors of pocket hand sanitizers for my wife add to sprung weight??? And hair ties/scrunchies? Carbon fiber applied overlays may be the way to go!!!

3 or 4? Might as well just drag around a boat anchor. I actually only put partially used (used by me of course) chapstick in there - the fresh ones are heavier.

some parts aren't overlays, you finally can forget about all the weird things your wifes carry on or what you ate the day before!

I have the carbon overlays for the centre console and passenger grab handle (which I messed up trying to get rid of the stickyness) and would love to fit those this week. Cheers!
FYI, that grab handle piece goes in tight, After test fit I just left it with no tape. I didn't think it was going to fit at first. Just work with it by sliding top in first. I was worried about breaking it but the stuff is tough as nails. On the other stuff I used the 3M half inch wide. The thinner the better. The hardest part was getting the backing off with my old eyes.

Thanks for the advice, really appreciate it. I tried a test fit with the grab handle and gave up. The sticky coating on the original surface was coming off in small particles and I scratched it up pretty badly trying to squeeze the part on top. I'm gonna give it another go over the weekend. The center console parts look much much easier and your pics look great, definitely encouraging me to get that done and dusted soon.

Thanks, yeah the part will go, just took a little patience. It hangs up in the bottom angle, a little coaxing got it to pop in. Was thinking some sort of lubrication may have helped too.

Center parts easy to install, paddles and ones on top of leather many dremel work required to fit them.
