Default Lexus LC vs. F-Type Drop Tops

Compared the P450 to the LC. Not a fair comparison with top of the line Lexus vs. V6S replacement IMHO. I think the conclusion was baked in before the review.

Weird conclusion, seems a bit at odds with the descriptions in the various sections. As you say, it seems Lexus takes more advertising space than Jaguar with them.

I don't even bother with such articles. I have my car, I'm happy with it. Period. It's like looking around after getting married, it won't usually improve your outlook.

Default the comparison

I actually looked at the LC when considering my new F-Type. I was coming out of a 2009 corvette convertible- a garage queen I owned since the showroom floor. My research started with one criteria- a convertible, so yes I did look at the LC. I was initially drawn to the styling of the LC. I sat in it, I drove one...and will say it is a nice car - as should be expected for the price point-even with an infotainment system that makes the Jag look like state of the art. I don't need the AWD - this is a summer fun car and my A8L is for snow and daily driver. I didn't need the extra that the R delivers. I say that because I don't need four seats or to spend the extra- on an LC, 840i, or Mercedes. In the end, the LC felt a bit "stuffy" to me and like it will not stand up the the test of time. The Jag was perfect and I could not be happier.

The LC in the metal reminds me a lot more of the XK than the F Type. Very nice looking car especially in darker colours, personally I think the f Type is more dramatic and fun looking, but I wouldnt kick the LC out of my garage if it backfired.

Cool

My SVR is beyond belief to me, but I really want my wife to get the LC! Except for the nav, I love it!

If the author doesn't vote with his wallet, it really doesn't count. I've voted.

So when I bought my new 2018 F Type R the other finalist was the LC500. I test drove the LC multiple times and it was a really close call. The LC's looks are polarizing but I think it's beautiful. The interior of the Lexus is better, the build quality is better, and I'm sure it will last twice as many miles if not more BUT, the drive just isn't the same. The LC just feels so heavy. Porsche guys like to call the F Type a "GT", but compared to the LC, the F Type is like an F1 car. Also, while I'm not a boy racer, the acceleration of the F Type is one or two orders of magnitude better.

The LC500 is a great car. Almost as good as an F Type R.
