Just slap a few meatballs on the XJ, and no one will notice. I'm shooting to get to F40 around 10am.

Glad you're able to attend, only if only for a day.

I just went through the itinerary, and looked up addresses for all the places we'll be visiting, for easy access. (I'm **** that way.) We'll be walking to some of these, so probably won't need the nav system.

Thank you for doing that Dave - and it's all under control (T-shirts, by the way, arrive tomorrow...excited to see how they came out) - but with one change; we're now going to drive from Owls Head Transportation Museum for lunch, by-passing Owls Head Light altogether, and have lunch at The Brass Compass's sister restaurant called Archer's, on the harbor in Rockland. (Ordering off the regular menu - where their Lobster Club is king - and separate checks).

We'll then drive the short distance to The Farnsworth and might even have a little extra time, after our visit, to stroll the lovely town and Main Street of Rockland. Then, back to Portland and Union @ The Press Hotel.

See you soon (and while we're rain and/or shine, cross your fingers for a day(s) like this. Just spectacular!)

Best regards,
Jay

Unless you're a Buddhist, you only live once. (After next weekend, maybe you'll resemble a Buddha). Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Driving down to F-40 on Thu, I may come in from the east on Rt 6/Rt 66, instead of coming down through Hartford. Looks like a nice, mostly rural stretch. Theoretically, it only adds 20 min to the drive. If we leave F-40 with enough time, we could consider going that way instead of Hartford, if you want a non-interstate stretch.

Just a thought. I haven't been on that road before, so don't know if it's worthwhile. But should be nicer than Hartford...

Latest update on route and times. I've moved up the departure time from the Chesapeake House to 5:30 as discussed above. This will give us a little more cushion for traffic and drizzle.

Chesapeake leave 5:30
Rest area NJ Turnpike both of PA turnpike: 6:50
Tappan Zee: 8:30-8-45
Connecticut Route 15 Reat Area: 8:45-8:55
North Haven CT rest area 9:20
Wayne's: 10:00
Leave Wayne's 1130-1145
I-495 Mass Rest Area 1:15-1:20
Allegash Brewery ME 3:45-4

Ouch! that means I have to leave here at 4:15 and and my co-pilot has to leave his house at 3:30. I'll let you know if we can handle that schedule.

Leave the night before, and get a room somewhere. Maybe Wayne will let you sleep in the gullwing.

That's what I'm doing. I am departing Wednesday evening and sleeping just north of Hartford. leaving home at 5am is not that appealing. I call dibs on the Gullwing!

No, leave it at 5:30. We'll just drive up to Perryville on Wednesday night.

Don't know what people are thinking of for lunch after leaving F-40 Motorsports, but if we go through Harford to the Mass Pike, there's a service plaza in Charlton. That's probably the quickest in/out. I'll have snacks in my car, so don't need to stop. Of course, there's plenty of fast food on the way.

At the Charlton service plaza...

Jeez, you're worried about eating on the way up? I'd be trying to lose 5 lbs. in advance of the 5000 calories a day you're gonna be packing in over the weekend.

Y'all be careful. It's looking like a rainy, chilly weekend.

I'll be the one wearing a full rain suit, with the top down. Doesn't look like a washout, but there will be rain at some point most likely.

Marko,
What route through/around Jersey City and Hackensack are you planning?

Getting on GSP at Woodbridge?
