Default Locking Fuel Cap for F Type?

Seeing that our F-Types here in the US DO NOT have locking fuel caps or locking fuel filler door, has anyone found an aftermarket locking cap that works on their F-Type?

If so, would you please share here the make and model of the locking cap?

Thanks!

Really, no lock? Do they lock elsewhere (not U.S.)?

There is another thread on this, but the locks work on the European versions.

This place in the UK has one for the 2013+ F-Type. PetrolCaps.com | Bedford Rascal Locking Petrol Cap, Daihatsu Hijet Locking Petrol Cap, Talbot Express Locking Diesel Cap, Ford P100 Pickup Locking Diesel Cap
I'm assuming it'd work for US models as well. They do ship international.

Default Info on Locking Fuel Cap

From : George Camp

Date : 2014-07-24 15:59:27

After receiving several Tech line calls about non-locking fuel caps on the New F-TYPE model we did a bit of investigation. All information we got was as firm as oatmeal so beware. Fact--the 3 cars we looked at do not lock. Fact-- the owners manual says they do. Fact---evidently in all other world markets the manual says they do and they DO! Fact--the manual clearly states there may be changes that are not documented--that is true and fair! Fact--when you try to discover the reason the answers are varied and at the end of the day they do not actually matter as the cap nor door lock. So members that called were worried about someone that does not have an F-TYPE resenting the fact that you do-----that is real and a concern. So JCNA did a bit of investigating and found that a locking fuel cap is indeed available for the F-TYPE up to VIN #K15252. Not sure what happens at the VIN break but prior to that (up to K15251)can be solved by the good folks at Coventry West (800-331-2193) ex117. They are ready to sell you a locking fuel cap for your F-TYPE at retail of $29.95. The part number you need to ask for is C2D33850/LOCK. Hope this help those JCNA members with this concern. NOTE--for cars after vin K15251 there is evidently some fix in the works but at this time the information is not validated and therefore will not be addressed. Enjoy your F_TYPE and give CW a call!

I'd rather the fuel door lock but if this is the only alternative...

Just got my locking fuel cap from PetrolCaps.com. Will try it on tonight for fit and go for a drive to make sure no warning lights come on. Will keep you guys posted. Looks high quality, comes with 2 keys.

Mine just arrived at the weekend too. Haven't fitted it yet but it does look like a good quality product as you say.

OK, looks like it fits fine. As the instructions mention, it doesn't "click" so you just tighten it until it's tight. Drove to the store and back, no engine light warning going off. Ended up cutting the plastic string that holds the OEM cap. Probably could have taken the holder string out without cutting but didn't feel like messing around to figure it out.

Wonder if it will pass smog in CA as the cap has to be made in a certain way? They test the cap by itself during the certification. If it "fails" no tags for the coming year

But you don't need to run a smog test on your car until it is at least 6 years old in CA. Plus, it would be simple enough to swap in the original cap for the test anyway.

The caps are manufactured to EEC 70/221 specification Directive 70/221/EEC - Automotive - Enterprise and Industry, so there should be no issues with the smog test in CA, but I will ask the question from the factory when they return on the 25th August (they are on a break at the moment), the cap is designed from the original specification and the dealer I visited stated that they were all the same even for export models, we will investigate this further and post what we find out Regards Mark COMMERCIAL LINKS DELETED

Thanks @knoxville!

I ordered the cap from Coventry West. It costs $29 plus a few bucks in ground shipping.
It arrived and appears to be a proper Jaguar part (Ie it's different from the petrolcaps product above... It may be better or worse I have no idea).

I've attached photos of the cap, along with the keys which are helpfully and sexily engraved with "fuel".
I found that the stock fuel cap retainer line can be pried off with medium force, it's just held in by simple plastic snaps. Have attached photos of that too.

The locking cap C2D33850/LOCK is also compatible with the cap holder built into the gas flap (again, see photos).

Thanks for bumping that thread. I've been looking for that part number. I'll let you know next week if it fits a '16 and has a lock. The parts list says it's good for MY 14 through VIN 15251, but does not show it as a locking cap in the illustration.

Did you ever resolve if the missing parts for the solenoid would lock the access flap (instead of the cap) if fitted?
