Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires
I put the Michelan SP tires on my XKR after the Pirellis wore out, and also the Pirellis got very noisy along the way as well.
The Michelan tires are superior in all handling issues from my experience and stayed much quieter as they wore in.

Yeah I had PS2s on my M3 and now as they have worn out I am slowly moving over to Super Sports. I keep hearing really good things and the fact that they are considerably cheaper than the PS2s is an added bonus!

Finally found out why the rear 20" Pilot Super Sports can't be found" Michelin is in the process of moving these particular tire size molds to another manufacturing site. Production will not resume until the end of July." This may be a myth that Michelin is passing out to its dealers, or it could be for real.

I'm very impressed with the OEM 20" Pirellis now that the pavement is warm. Of course, I'm talking about a V6, and I think they are outstanding for spirited street use in spring/summer temps on my car. I also made them work just fine throughout the winter by being careful.
It was cooling down when I made the swap to 20's, so I'm now just getting familiar with them in their intended climatic conditions. I fully understand it may be a different matter on the Rs.
I hate PZero's! Loud and hard, handling doesn't justify! Michelin PSS better all around.A few more miles and I'm changing. Some while ago a member in SoCal switched out and said it really made the car everyday enjoyable. Like Continentals also but PSS is favorite.
I put PSS on my V8S and they make a huge difference over the P Zero's!
Seem to be stickier and a better tire.
I ended up getting them through my Porsche dealer and took about 3 weeks to arrive.
I recommend them.

The PSSs for the rear don't appear to be available anywhere for at least another 7 weeks. If anyone has a line on some sitting around anywhere, please let me know.
I switched from 18" Vela/Conti's that came on my car to 20" Gyrodyne/Pirelli's as the weather was cooling down last fall. Now that the pavement is getting very warm, I've been pleasantly surprised, and I think the 20" OEM P-Zeros are well-suited to the V6. They certainly have more grip than what came on my car.
I can easily see they might be less so on the V8. Given that the PSS in 20" F-Type sizes is apparently not available now, I'm OK with wearing these out and in no hurry to switch.
A customer service representative at Michelin NA reported to me today that the 305/30x20 Michelin PSSs will not be produced for another several months. However, tire distributors have received shipments of the 295/30x20 this week.
Just had the 245/275 19s delivered to a local installer for installation soon. After 16.5K, the rear P-Zeros have about 4/32" left. The dealer said 2/32, but I suspect that's measuring to the ridge that's in the outer channel, which I wouldn't think is a legit measurement.
Don't trust Michelin on estimated delivery on backordered tires. I had PSS on my 2008 XKR and loved them. The problem was when I went to replace them the rears were backordered (285/30/20). Every month or so I would call Michelin and they would say they would soon be in production. I patiently waited for over a year and they never became available. Ended up trading the car before they ever became available.

I am in the same predicament as many of you here. My rears are pretty much done, but the fronts are still good. I am glad to hear the PSS are such a good improvement, I am really thinking about switching all 4 but, I really do not want to waste 2 good front tires. I have been told it is not a good idea to have 2 different types of tires.
Has anyone considered the Pirelli PZero Corsa System for the rears? I was considering 305 for the back and keep the front regular PZeros in the front, just to keep the same thread pattern.

An interesting thread - Seems a no brainer to go for PSS once the OEM's are shot.
Regarding type pressures on the OEM's. My F has 37psi on each corner for normal everyday driving. If I was going to have a bit of track time, what would be a ballpark figure to start with?
And,
How do you achieve the 'sweet spot' with tyre pressures on track?

I have about 5500 miles on my OEM pirelli's and I've noticed that it is a lot easier to break the back loose now. Not in a scary way but it is very easy on public streets. When they were new it took disabling traction control to get them to slide. Still tons of tread so won't be replacing them anytime soon but when I do I'll go for the PSS.
This is mostly because its the only other tire available in the stock sizes, outside of a Conti track tire. I personally would prefer something other than the PSS, i've seen them chunk on the edges during hard cornering and think there are better options out there, but its gonna take time for manufactures to start making them.
