When my wife is in the car, she insisted on maximum exhaust noise. She checks the center console switches to ensure the car is in "trumpet mode".

3000 miles from TN to TX and back, and the computer was over 30 mpg, but I did not calculate the mileage to compare to the computer. Base V6.

I suspect it's better w/ cruise control. I never use it, even on long highway trips.

Default Mileage

Appreciate the feedback but read it and weep 29.4 was the avg mileage. Makes sense when you think about highway cruising on cruise control over 2800 miles. Could have been higher without the Virginia mountAin road but that was just a fraction of the overall mileage. The good news was how comfortable it was for this long a trip. Made the return journey in two days - so lond spells in the drivers seat.

It's not uphill both ways🙃

I pretty much drove my Vette year round up in the CO mountains. The sun will melt off the snow and ice within just a couple days of a snow storm. Not so in Minnesota.

If I do go on longer drives and use cruise control for 65-70 mph, I get 20-22 mpg at most.

Throughout my life I've always seen 15% more fuel usage in my driving - no matter what the car or road. But looks like I am indeed missing on another 20% on this cat.

I am pretty close to you. I'm typically 13-15 mpg just about every time I fill up.

Just came back from a 5 days trip to Nurburgring in Germany, where I drove over 600 miles all in all.

Average mpg was 12.8. It was a very spirited driving trip on German autobahn though, and when trafic allowed we where cruising at 130 mph with many sprints upwards to top speed.

I have also managed 29 mpg+ when cruising at lower speeds using the cruise control.

I think I speak for most on this board - I'm envious. Did you hit the speed limiter? I seem to recall someone saying the speed limiter may not kick in while in dynamic, or something to that effect.

Unfortunately the weather and the trafic was such that we never got to test out top speed.

The best I could manage was 280 km/h, but it felt like it had a "lot" more to give.

It felt very planted, but you can feel the weight in the long high speed curves.

One other thing that impressed me was how effortless it would cruise in 200 km/h at exactly 2500 rpm, and even accellerate from 200 km/h with a modeste press at the throttle when in D and 8. gear - without automatic downshifting. The torque of this thing at low rpm is very impressive.

Shifting down a few gears and then flooring it (from 200 km/h), and it takes off easilly keeping up with the (new) GT3 RS, Turbo S, GT2, 599, 430 Scuderia and 488 that I was traveling with.

The F-type R is nothing to be ashamed off in straight line speed

Due to bad weather I did not get to test it out on Nurburgring track this time though. But there will come other trips....

Just completed a boring drive on a two lane highway at around 50-55 miles per hour ( our speed limits here are mind numbing ) and the traffic was a bit heavy.. we had around 3 red lights across a span of 45 minutes.

Using litres per 100 kilometers, the computer indicated 7.5 .. with litres you can convert to either imperial or U.S. gallons. I'll try it a few more times when I can actually drive at higher speed and/or more aggressively.

Default Long run.

On our way East from Colorado. Day 1, drove from Denver to Salina, Kansas, 400 miles, cruise set at 80 mph, 29.5 mpg calculated. (I know, it's all downhill.) Day 2, drove about 600 miles to Evansville, Indiana, cruise set at 80 mph, and then at 75mph, 30.6 mpg calculated. We hit 90 a couple lf times and 100 once when passing, but otherwise pretty constant speed. It's me and the wife, and a fully, tightly packed boot.

I just picked up a brand new 2016 Convertible R, with 10 miles on the odometer. I have driven the car almost 250 miles now and the gas mileage has been horrendous. If I am driving spirited over a decent distance 30 miles, I am averaging 16mph. If in the city, I am getting around 7mph! I am in dynamic mode 90% of the time. I am just wondering if this is common during break-in period, or do I just need to mute my spirited driving to get a mpg that is halfway decent.

If your in dynamic and sport your mileage is not going to be great. If you put it in normal drive with a mix of highway and city 21mpg average is where you'll be. Mostly highway on longer trips I've averages 27-28mpg at 70mph ave. which is pretty darn good for a V8. Fun will definitely cost you mileage! But I'm sure you didn't get this car to save the planet

Haha, yes I didn't purchase this car to save the planet, but I've been seeing everyone reported gas mileage here and I'm getting jealous. Or my car has an issue.

Make sure you check the tire pressure - some dealers don't check. Should be 36psi. Assume you only use 91+ octane fuel.

Thanks I just checked my tires were all between 31-33 psi. I'll get them filed properly tomorrow and check on my mpg then.

Jag recommends 37 psi on the 2016+ models.

Depending on driving style, I average between 14 and 28 mpg (usually around 22) in mixed city/hwy. It saves money to drive like a sane person.
