Of course, the OP has a V8. I've averaged around 25mpg indicated, which is more like 23 in reality, as we know the computer has a +2mpg bias.

 

Just finished a 6000 one month trip with my wife in an ftype R convertible. We took one small soft sided bag that fit into the square well in trunk and put the rest of iur stuff in a number of vacuum bags that had zip lock tops and one way valves - put in the clothes and sit on the bag. It worked amazingly well and we couldn't believe how much stuff we were able to fit into the trunk. We bought some stuff along the way and shipped some clothes home in order to allow for the added stuff

 

So, that's how you managed dealing with the expanded clothes after the vacuum seals were broken. Cramming 50 pounds of crap into a 20 pound bag is always fraught with challenge!

 

Bags were easy....after evey stop we put the clothes back in and just sat on the bag to get the air out. One way valve.

 

Did you bring an iron with you? That must have been some intense wrinkling.

 

I've never gotten 28 mpg even on a long(ish) trip. 21 / 22 to work. 17 if I take the back way home once during a tankful.

 

Only use your cruise control to throttle the gas on those longish trips. Not much fun, but plenty cheaper.

 

Also makes a difference if you don't use dynamic. If you want to squeeze every last drop, use snow/ice mode to maximize mileage, and for a boring trip.

 

I am jealous - I am averaging 16mpg in the city for short commutes and 22mpg on the highway. I'm surprised because My TT, another V6, gets it's best mileage at 85mph. I assumed a real sports car would similarly improve with speed, clearly not.
p.s. I tried snow/ice mode and it was like magic - it turned my car into a Lexus

Thanks guys, filled the tires to factory settings, and drove less insane and averaged about 26mpg hwy and about 15mpg in the city. This was was dynamic mode off and no paddle shifting.

 

Okay so now that I have had the R longer, I can definitely say the mileage I get is far off than jaguar quotes. It is essentially impossible to get over 10.5mpg in San Francisco, even when driving like a grandpa. (No offense to the grandpas on this forum). Spirited highway driving puts me between 15-20mpg. And if I go into boring grandpa mode I can get 26mpg. Overall in averaging about 15mpg. I mean it definitely doesn't make me love the car less. I was just expecting and overall average of 18-19mpg. Anyways love the car and I will continue to drive it spirited, else what is the point of having such an awesome car.

 

The San Fransisco topography is definitely putting you at a fuel economy disadvantage.

 

I am in San Diego and do mostly city driving. Average is 12.5-12.8 MPG. I do drive ahem "spiritedly"

 

I get 13-15 around town in Vegas, always spirited, and jack rabbit starts. In dynamic on weekends! On only out of town trip to Socal got in mid 20's using cruise and 80mph where possible.

 

it's a shame that the computer read out is 2mpg higher than actual, modern cars really should be more up to date with the onboard instruments. Highest my base v6 ever read in my 300miles of owning the car has been 28.3 on highway cruise control. typically I run into traffic so I was lucky that day.

 

In my 2015 V6S, from Atlanta to Charlotte NC and back, I recently posted 31 MPG. Eco mode, cruise control set at 65 -70 mph. I typically avg about 22-24 MPG around town and commuting in dynamic mode.
