Miles until empty?

interesting comments here, especially the one with not letting the fuel go down too low because of the cooling factor. But I've also heard its good to run the tank LOW so that you use more of the "old gas" and not let it sit. Not sure what I believe, but I think we begin to split hairs. I think i'll just fill up when I have 50 or so miles left and not rack my brain so much.
Old gas is never a problem for a daily driver ;^)
My warning came on today, at 50 miles/10% remaining. Ten percent is not 50 miles, not by a long shot. Still, they're conservative and I'm OK with that.

Another data point. The lowest I've run it down is 11 miles. I think I got 17.5 (US) gallons that time. I guess I was too trusting of the technology, I don't think that I would let a regular gauge get that low. And my low fuel warning comes on at 40 miles.
