Missing the heart-beat start button

Default Missing the heart-beat start button

Love my new F type but do miss the old XK's (and XF's) pulsing start button. It really did look like the car had a heart-beat.

Is it just mine of is this now missing? Such a little thing and no reason it could not have been retained.

I think it does. Unlock the car and I think it pulses before you start. Am on a plane so can't check mine to confirm.

Might be an issue with your particular car. My car has the pulsing start button.

I've never noticed mine.
But I always just get in, foot on brake, push button, flip to dynamic, and go.

Maybe have to get in, no brake, push button to turn on, and then in that state it does the pulse/throb thing? I've only done that once when I was trying to get the car in neutral without starting (can't).

I have a 2014 V6S and the Start/Stop Button definitely does the heart-beat pulse. However, it does not do it all the time. It only seems to do it when I first get into the car; and only after I put my foot on the Brake peddle. It does not pulse after you turn the car off; even I take my foot off the brake and put it back on again.

Also, it is not very bright. In strong light, it is very hard to notice.

Mine as it as well and thought it was kinda cool the couple times i've noticed it.

Okay, this weekend I noticed it (R coupe).

Never noticed it in the V8S convertible, but again, maybe same issue of just not paying attention.

Mine does, and so did my last XKR.. the dealer can tweak the computer so it does this as my XKR quit doing it at one point and they fixed it..
Its much more obvious at night.

Hmm...

The V6s and V8R I've driven both had translucent amber coloured start buttons. Having a basic (Ha!) V6, I'd assumed it wasn't an option unless I got the switch changed.

I've always had the 'R', so perhaps it varies by model.

I also noticed it for the first time this morning in a dark garage. Mine is a base car, so they all must have it. With the long summer days, I haven't driven the car in darkness in the 3 months since I took delivery. The back lighting is not very bright, so I'm guessing you wouldn't notice it in bright ambient light.

I suppose it's useful for finding the start button in a dark car at night.

my v8s totally has it. it pulses when the key is near, and it does the heartbeat pulse too (thump thump . . . thump thump . . . etc.)
