MotorWeek Retro
Guys,
The MotorWeek YouTube channel has tests and stats on iconic super cars that show they are slower and inferior overall etc… to the STOCK F-Type R/SVR;
Ferrari F40, F50 and more. For real world sll weather street high performance use; I think only the Porsche Turbo and the new ZR1x are competitors. ✅ The Acura NSX 0-60 was slower than a Range Rover at 5.5 seconds.🤣

If an Econoline van can hold a sofa *and* a dinette, I guess it's a better vehicle than my F-Type the F40.
Reminds me of a discussion with a friend where he was bragging about the fuel economy of his hybrid compared to my car. I pointed out that he was optimizing for something different than I was.

Having been the owner of 2 Gen-1 NSX’s, you are EXACTLY right. Now, Gen-2 is an entirely different story. (Although like Gen-1’s, vastly underrated and underestimated; I.e. initially unappreciated). I have never been interested in straight line speed (still not) but the sub-3 second 0-60 in Gen-2 is brutal and not pleasant at all. IMO.
Here’s to a HEALTHY & happy New Year (and beyond).
Best regards,
Jay

A few decades ago I got about an hour behind the wheel of a 1978 Porsche 930 Turbo along the Silverado Trail and environs. The acceleration was so brutal that I couldn't manage anything even approaching smooth for the 1-2 shift. After the realization that I wasn't going to master that, I gave up on 1st, short-shifted, and relished the experience. I did not have the skills to match the car, but knew enough to not do anything stupid with someone else's car. It could do 25mph corners at 60 without even a chirp from the tires. Oh, yeah! Accelerating is fun, but I enjoy driving more.
