Default Muffler replaced under warranty

While my car was in having an alignment, the dealer noticed the exhaust had a fault - "Rear exhaust vacuum actuators sticking / binding". They are replacing the muffler under warranty.

Anyone else experienced this? Glad its being replaced under warranty, however worried if it happens again I will be paying for it out of pocket as the car is out of warranty in February 2018.

I asked the service tech if the early cars had a design fault that lead to such an early failure / if the new part was redesigned - he said he didn't know.

I had issue with exhaust stuck open, they found loose ground somewhere.

Had an issue with my active exhaust muffler making a creaking noise or chirping noise. The valves were sticking or something like that. It was replaced under warranty. Not a big deal.

I had the squeaking/chirp noise, replaced muffler assembly under warranty as well. This has shown up a number of times in the known issues and various threads. Definitely seems to be a weak point with these cars.

my exhaust valve had seized closed on the driver side. They fixed it but next time if it happens again they will replace whole exhaust system.

Hmmmm ok seems a common enough problem.

Its great when the cars are under warranty and they get replaced for free - however its not going to be so good if it happens again within another 3 years as its a relatively high cost item. I would expect to get longer than 3 years between muffler replacements.
