Name Something You Discovered About Your F-Type AFTER You Bought it...

A couple of interesting little things I found out and like about my SVR - apart from the Power/Sound/Looks
- The center vents only operate (lift) automatically if the temperature outside is above 60oF. Can be manually lifted and lowered through the menus
- The electronic brake works great in traffic to hold the car without you having to put your foot on the brake to disengage when you pull off. Simply accelerate.
- The Speed Limiter function works well when you have really low speed limits areas, (25mph and school zones). Simple to set and it takes that urge away to put your foot down!
- The Sound System Suck! Door panels vibrate with the bass and sub-woofer turned way down.
- G force meter in the Dynamic setup menu is fun to use when you have some twisty bits to drive.
- The Valet function is great and easy to set.
- Love that the Cruise Control is always active. Hate other cars where you have to keep switching it on each time you start the engine.
- Love the 6 hour memory for the Dynamic Control. Previous BMW M5 always annoyed me as it had to be activated each time you started the engine.

When I picked up my F type R, a fellow owner said, "Be careful, this car will make anyone drive like a Dbag" (idiot, Ahole, etc).
I said, "Oh, I've had fast cars before and driven lots of exotics... I'll be fine."
Literally 30 minutes later, I'm weaving through traffic cackling like a wild man. Running the revs in town. Inducing extended cracks and pops anytime a pedestrian was walking down the sidewalk. And tunnels...don't get me started.
So yeah, I'm THAT guy now.

I did not know that you can open the windows with the key fob until somebody hear mentioned it. Nice to let the first puff of hot air escape before you get to open the door. My XKR-S does that also and I never knew. Had the comfort remote in the my Porsches and had several things programmed but did not know the Jags came with the opening window feature.
Memorizing a downshift if you pull it too soon until the revs allow it to down shift, didn't know it would do that either.

I'm fairly new here and see that this thread is capturing a huge response! I only have 1000 miles on my new 2018 F type R and love the car. No problems have surfaced yet, car appears to be made quite well. But, being an "enthusiasts" type of car, I am completely shocked and somewhat disappointed that the car has basically no gauges to tell you what the drive train is doing or seeing. Things like oil pressure (in pounds), oil temperature (in degrees), coolant temperature (in degrees), boost pressure, transmission oil temperature (in degrees), engine oil dipstick (ouch!), etc. My previous, newer model (2010, forward) sporty or muscle type cars, all had these gauge packages prominently displayed on the instrument panel, or readily available in the electronics where they could easily be dialed up while you were driving. Someone said that's because Jaguars are purchased by old people....I'm an older guy (more mature??), grew up in the 50's and 60's and like many of us older guys, still like performance and sporty type cars. especially ones in the 6 figure category (ahem!). Part of that is reading the gauges, IMO!!

+1. Jag figures you're too stupid to properly interpret analog data. But, then again, most folks under the age of 40 don't know how to read an analog gauge or even use a rotary dial phone. They don't even know what a carriage return [CR] button is. lol

Ha, you’re close. I got the gauges all figured out, it’s my I phone 8 that stumps me from time to time. But I have a 10 year old neighbor who shows me how to use it when I get stumped! I’m like Alfred E. Neuman (Mad Magazine circa 1965)....”What me worry?”

Not in the USA models to my knowledge. It's called global closing. Global opening works. I think the word on the forum is in USA it's the lawyers working to eliminate lawsuits.

Unhingd: How about stomping on a metal peg near your left foot to activate your high beams? Better yet, using a timing light, turning the distributor cap, and measuring gap with a feeler gauge for a tune up, jetting your carbs...today saying "measuring gap with a feeler" will get you the stinkeye as a Weinstein wannabe and jetting carbs would elicit diet and weight loss fad questions.
tzoid9: Ahhhh...Alfred E., that takes ya back.
To the subject at hand...
Discovered I'll have to keep a small serrated knife close at hand in the car to feel safe as the seatbelt pretensioner on the driver side locked up and will not release, this with less than 400 miles on the car. New parts on order. If that happens with the belt latched I'll want to have the ability to cut my way loose. After decades of driving with seatbelts on it is oddly disconcerting and quite distracting to drive without being latched in.
Also discovered I can hear the supercharger in regular exhaust mode but it is gone when the gases are on loud.
Discovered I love this car as much as I dreamed I would watching the old Villainy ads.
