New F-type R owner questions
To say I am new to a Jag, is a pretty major understatement. However, I bought a mint 2015 F-type R last week and am diving into this world with both feet. She only has 39,000 miles and I have literally yet to find a scratch on her. I'm going to be using it as my daily driver so keep that in mind if you choose to respond. I'm pretty sure this is the only F-type within 150 miles of me so I don't have too many people to go ask questions. Any help/input/advice would be appreciated. If there are a dozen threads on this stuff already, just say so but I looked a bit a didn't find any:
1) It came with the silver 20" wheels. I'm tempted to change out for the black 19" OW59903A. I have several reasons for doing this. I think black would look way better, the ride should be better with more rubber between me and the road and given I will be putting several miles on it a year, the tire bill should be smaller. Is there anything wrong changing to the 19" and would the ride be appreciably better?
2) Several Youtube vids were dedicated to discussing the is water infiltration through the hood vents onto the engine. I don't think mine has the rubber flaps that i saw in several videos on youtube. Is this something to worry about? Is there a simple fix? Can I not just seal the intakes under the hood?
3) Now for the silly questions: where do you put your sunglasses and phone in this thing?
Thanks in advance.

1) I think the only thing to be aware of is that the rims you choose fit over the brake disks. Not sure about any ride improvements, though, maybe someone on here with 19" can give their experiences.
2) I have AWD so no experience with the water ingress that's apparently common with the RWD hood.
3) Glasses on your face, phone er, I leave mine in my bag, either on the passenger seat, or in the trunk if I have a passenger. I've found the in-car features to be perfectly fine for my use cases.
And welcome to the (rather exclusive) club!

The OW59903A wheels are 19" by 8.5" which is fine for the front axle but could look a bit out of place on the rear of an F-Type R seeing as all F-Type OEM fitments are staggered, i.e. wider rears than fronts. They will fit both front and rear but could look very "tucked in" at the rear.
Assuming you have the RWD and not AWD the hood vents do not have any flaps, those were only fitted to AWD versions and the RWD car does not have any provision to fit them. No simple fix that I know of other than to avoid driving in heavy rain or using a high pressure hose on the hood.
I put my sunglasses in the centre console cubby where the drink holders were, after I removed the drink holder rubber insert (it simply pulls up and out) and relined the cavity with a piece of car carpet cut to shape. Of course this is no good if you use the drink holders but I never used them and I forbid any passenger from eating or drinking in the car.
I put my phone in the door pocket, even with a leather case it fits just nice. At times I mount it on the dash using a (permanently affixed) Scosche phone holder, plenty of threads and posts around here about phone holders for the F-Type.

If you are going to daily it I would do the cooling pipes in metal first, and the car will be good to you, The XF and Range rover shares the same engine, whether it's V6 orV8

From what I remember, the 19's will not work with your brakes.
I added a wireless android upgrade to my stereo and just leave my phone in my pocket. I put my sunglasses in the cup holder and keep a spare pair in the door.

I have 19” Propellers, which fit over my 380mm front brakes. So they should fit the OP’s car too.

Yep, the stock brakes on the V6S are the "high performance" set up, 380 mm front and 326 mm rear, and the stock wheels are 19" so the OEM F-Type 19" wheels DO fit over the front 380 mm brakes. I think that is ALL OEM F-Type 19" wheels but maybe just maybe there are one or two which don't fit.
I bought this for the sunvisor to hold my sunglasses. It works well. Just in the way if I put the sunscreen in the window if I park it outside for any duration.

Thanks for al the input. A couple more:
1) Is it a common problem for the car not to see the key? Its happened 3-4 times already that I get in with the key in my bag in the passengers seat and the car doesn't see it. I've replaced both fob batteries and sometimes it doesn't see it even when I move the bag to my lap. I have to open door and pretend I'm getting in again and it will start up.
2) It appears I don't have passive unlocking. I have to push button on door handle or unlock with fob. Correct?
3) Some of the interior is a little sticky. Is there anything I can do about it that doesn't ruin the surface?
4) Just a side note, You don't buy this car if you care about fuel mileage, but out of morbid curiosity I watched it this week. The first tank got almost 28mpg. Better than my Stinger.

1) It's not unusual (IME) for button batteries to not be full voltage when you buy 'em - I always check mine with a multimeter before fitting.
2) Not sure what you mean by passive unlocking. You can unlock by the door handle button, fob, emergency key(!) or the Remote app.
3) There are threads about sticky buttons, with possible solutions, on here already, you're not the first!
4) Yeah, they are surprisingly frugal for such powerful cars! I did a 122 mile round trip to take a mate to the airport and the computer showed 34.5 mpg!

2) Correct. To get into the car when it is locked, you need to either press the button on the handle or the fob.
3) Nuetrogena Fragrance free makeup wipes have been reported to help. Not an issue with my '17.
4) The dash fuel economy indicator is notoriously generous. On a 900 mile trip, mine stated 28.6 mpg. I did the math and it was actually about 26 mpg. Count on it being over by about 2 mpg.
I know the tank is sized (or at least referenced) in US gallons, but I don't know if the MPG computer is calibrated to estimate imperial gallons or US gallons, which could also explain the difference.
I got the Proclip for the iphone. Was a little skeptical due to how the phone is held and that the main clip is so big, but it works perfectly. Gotta hold it pretty tight to the hip so i can stretch my legs every now and then but i love the position. Thanks guys and gals.
