Non-warranty voiding mods?

Yes, it would be a modification. The failure of the part itself and any resultant damage wouldn't be covered on under the vehicle warranty.

However, if you bought the part from an authorized dealer it would come with its own warranty...an "OTC Parts" (over the counter parts) warranty. So the failure of the part itself might be covered. I say 'might' because the OTC Parts warranty might be jeopardized by using it in an application it wasn't intended for.

Some OTC warranties cover resultant damage as well as the failed part itself....but, again, the 'intended application' bugaboo might come into play.

The relationship between customer and dealership can often make a difference in this sort of situation.
