Thanks for the files!

For some reason, I can’t read the instructions file but it was easy enough to figure out how to add it to Torque Pro. For anyone else reading this, you can simply import the CSV and it’ll add it…no need to move file and add predefined set. One thing to note, the imperial file does not contain the oil temp PID so I had to import the standard PIDs first, then import the imperial file and do a replace. You will need to modify the equation and unit type (OBD header may need to be modified as well…just make a note of how the other PIDs are set up).

The last thing that I’m trying to figure out are the standard value for each…but I’ll make a separate thread on this later so not to clutter this one. Thanks all! Glad it was suggested to try OBDLINK MX+ and good to see that it doesn’t kill the battery!

Looking forward to your addition posts on this.
Thanks for reporting back.

Well there was at least one guy who said that the OBDLINK MX+ still caused battery drain but I did not understand how that could be if the adapter powers down itself?

Unfortunately that's the case for me :-(

I've already tried several options, but next time I'll just leave the OBDLINK MX+ connected and see what happens when the car has been off for a long time.

Add me to the list of users whose OBDLINK MX+ does not shut down and drains the battery. I left mine plugged in overnight and came out to find the red triangle still on and battery drained (CTEK showed only 3 LEDs so still actively charging the battery). Was really hoping this scanner would be the solution, but it looks like the issue is inherent with the Jag software and not the OBD adapter.

Maybe early cars need a software update to fix it.

Thanks again for reporting back as the OBDLINK MX+ can still cause the battery to go dead. Just depends on the car.

I’ve got a 2015 but not sure what software upgrades its had as I got it used over 3 years ago so can’t confirm unless there is some way to check. In my possession, it’s never gotten any as I don’t take it to the dealership.

Press the VALET button on the screen for round 20 seconds and a hidden menu might pop up. In there you can see what software version you have. I haven't done it yet. I have a 2014 V8S so I'm not sure if it works on mine. I also haven't seen this brought up with all the talk about this possibly being software specific.

I will try to remember to try this when I get home.

Just tried out the OBDLink MX+ adapter with Torque Pro on a cheap Android phone in my car using the the custom PID files from earlier in this thread. The transmission temperature PID doesn't work at all for me and the oil volume doesn't display right but the others seem to work fine. Also the OBDLink allows the red triangle to shut off after the usual 15 minutes.

One suggestion though if you are going to leave the OBDLink installed all the time. Get a low profile OBD2 extension cable so you can tuck the OBDLink out of the way. If installed directly to the OBD port you can accidentally hit the unit with your knee.

I had the same issue and I think it's because the imperial file had the wrong value for "OBD2 mode and PID". I simply deleted the existing Gear Oil Temp PID and imported from the standard file and pressed the Keep option to keep the existing PIDs. Or you can simply edit it and input "221e69" as its value. Did the same w/ the Oil Level PID (its value is 2203e6 though). You mentioned Oil Volume, I had no issue w/ that one but here's the value if you need it: 2203f2.

Btw, here’s what my setup looks like installed in the car. I mounted it on the steering column. Pic is before I adjusted the value for the tranny temp

Craaaazzy thanks VERY much for additional comments and how to fix parameters too!

Really like the AUX gauge panel and that's exactly what I do but just have the tablet resting on my passengers seat.
Yours is much better done.

Default Got OBDLinkMX+ and Torque Pro (yay!); have battery drain (boo!)

After stumbling upon this thread and finding out about the OBDLinkMX+ and the Torque Pro app, I decided that I had to have them. Very cool!

Need to get the phone screen fixed... and for some reason oil volume is displaying in gallons?

Sadly, I came back to the car about an hour later to find the red triangle and door lock lights both still illuminated

Disconnect OBDLink (which was warm to the touch), reset battery.

Now to call around to see what the local shops and/or dealers know about this software update that is supposed to cure the issue...

You might try quitting the Torque app on the phone before you shut the car off or remove the phone from the car.

Unfortunately that didn't work.

Given my recent electrical issues, I think I've had the drain ever since my last visit to my local independent (they were checking live data in an attempt to figure out some codes; I guess they don't know about the obd issue).

I'll see about the software update. Hopefully something turns up.

Sorry to hear it didn’t work. Hopefully you can find the issue and get that fixed so you can use it.

Sold my 2015 R and picked up a 2017 SVR…MX+ drains the battery on the newer vehicle so unfortunately for me, I can no longer use it on a daily basis. Will be keeping it so that I can at least look at the transmission temp when I do that work but was disappointed. Anyone ever figure it out on the newer years?
