OEM R exhaust on a base model
Well as some of you know, I had a custom exhaust made for my base model F-Type. Fit, finish and welds are on point but it is a little too loud for my daily driving. So until I decide on what I want to do next, I installed an OEM V8 R exhaust and I'm running it with the valves open. It works for now and the sound is just a little bit louder than stock but I still would like it a bit louder.
Has anyone tried running the OEM R X pipe on a V6 model? It looks like it would fit just fine and I am thinking the X pipe design (along with it not having the OEM V6 premuffler) will give my setup a slightly deeper tone. Thoughts?

Nice you did it! Nice to see that you took the torch from me and ran with it! Looks like you cleaned up the muffler pretty well too. Cruise by my office; I want to hear it!

Been messing around with various exhausts for my M3 and I can say swapping x pipes with differing numbers of resonators can make a huge difference in sound. Had a rear exhaust that I loved with both factory x pipe and *ahem* "test" pipes. But when I went to a newer style HF catted X pipe it totally changed the sound, in this case for the worse. So it gave me an excuse to get a new axle back exhaust!
So, FWIW, changing X pipe setups can have a huge effect on sound, even with no other changes to the system. That said, you won't know the result until you try it.

But yeah I'm thinking about just trying it out. Anyone have a spare midpipe laying around in Socal?
I asked Cambo about putting an X-pipe on my V6S (I put one on my old XFR and it improved both performance and sound) and he reckons it would be a waste of time, and possibly result in a loss of performance and sound quality.
The X-pipe works on a V8 to even out the exhaust pulses and improve exhaust scavenging, but apparently it doesn't work and isn't needed on the V6 because the firing order and exhaust gas flow physics are quite different.

On another note, me and my buddy switched cars yesterday and I can safely say that the OEM R muffler is pretty damn loud on this car when you get on it lol. But if I come across an R midpipe I will still test it out and let you guys know the results.
