How often are you people having to reset windows? I've literally never had to do this in any other car.

Only when the battery is disconnected. Which was twice in my previous XKR, when I swapped the battery, and never so far in my F-Type (in 4 months!).

I've had to do it each time I have used the VAP V-Tech programming tool (which plugs into the OBD2 port), at least when loading a new tune on (or reverting to the OEM tune), but I don't think I needed to reset the windows when I simply uploaded the OEM tune to the V-Tech.

Never in 5+ years. But I’ve never had the OBD issue that requires disconnecting the battery.

OK, I disconnected the battery to fiddle with a bad headlight. After that, the one-touch didn't work. The manual fails to state the obvious - do the window reset with top up. Unclear to me if the window would go to the proper up position with the top down.

I found that it did not work with ignition on/engine off. Once I started the engine, the reset procedure worked fine (stayed in P the whole time.) May be a difference in how verts/coupes behave.

The top has to be up on the coupe as well.

I’ll help you put your top down next time I see you.

Had this issue on the passenger window what worked for me was:
- Engine on, in park
- Close / open fully, release, press and hold again for 2 seconds (like the owner's manual says)
Tried it first with ignition on, engine off, as well as Close / open fully and keep holding, but didn't work.

Default Thanl you!

Worked the first time
QUOTE=deltagroup;1047993]"One-touch" would not work in the Up-mode on my passenger window. Just stopped working. One-touch worked in the Down-mode, but I had to hold the button to close the window.

OK, DIY-time.

Temporary loss of the one-touch facility, I found, is not unusual for most any manufacturer. A simple battery disconnect can require a reset. (Note: I did not disconnect my battery.) Simple as a system reset appears, it's the actual procedure that proved a tad elusive (Read: Frustrating)

My Owner's Manual references the "one-touch facility," but offers no reset instructions. [Correction: Owner's Handbook shows reset procedure in Maintenance Section.] Fortunately, there are droves of web-based suggestions out there for a factory reset on various Jaguar models. Unfortunately, none of these suggestions worked. "Pull up and hold until you hear the relay click." "Push up and hold for 30 secs." "Push down, pull up, then pull up X number of times." "Reset using the passenger-side control only." "Do not pass Go and do not collect $200." "Go to Pax Prime and forget the whole thing." (I was tempted on this last one.)

DIY-time now officially over.

I finally called my Tech for a little magic. His solution worked--

--Using the driver-side window control, lower and close the passenger window.

--After the passenger window is closed, pull up on the driver-side window control button 5 times; Be sure to fully release the button between each pull.

--Roll the passenger window down using one-touch, then use one-touch to roll it back up. Success!!

The reset is quirky. I had to run through this "5-pull" process several times to get the reset to work. The process may also work using the passenger-side control--didn't have to try that though.
