2016 F-Type S Coupe - ($4,999 Total Due at Signing Including 1st Payment, Tax, Title and License Fees, 33 Months, Security Deposit Waived. 5,000 Miles Per Year)
The $1995.00 accessory charge, which I'm questioning, is for black 19" Propeller wheels.
Thanks for the help! Let me know if you need any more info.

More likely the dealer sent them out for powder coating, which is far more durable and pricey. However, that's probably double what it would cost if you sent them to a powder coating shop yourself.

Exactly...5K per year would be a deal breaker for me...who could resist this car for such few miles?Originally Posted by IRRBrogue

Thanks for the response. Yes, it's 5k which fits our needs well. Prob. will put on 3k/yr. The salesperson said that is the lowest that Jag offered.Originally Posted by IRRBrogue

I definitely understand what you mean. However, the seat time is prob equal to 7500 miles + by virtue of living in L.A. and the accompanying sitting in traffic. The most chunks of miles will be burning through the desert to Las Vegas (so looking forward to that drive)Originally Posted by buickfunnycar.com

Unless my math is wrong, you're planning on about 14 round trips. The cost of the lease is $36,250 or about $2,600/trip+gas+insurance. Originally Posted by kaosinla

I've chartered planes and pilots for less than that per trip cost and the FBO's have nice cars for rental. You can still pull up to your hotel in style and possibly at lower overall cost.
The economic concept of 'utility' is different for each of us, so I'm not trying to talk you out of it. But, I'm also not a leasing fan...it simply doesn't meet my personal needs.

I understand....maybe I should have described that particular trip as some of my longest/getaway trips. This will be a daily, but fortunately I live very close to work. And, the lease will be a beneficial tax benefit as well.Originally Posted by Lookout!

Most others here - with an F-Type - would say unfortunately I live close to work. Originally Posted by kaosinla

What little I know about leasing - other than it can be tax advantageous for those using it for business - and I am not one for leasing personally (I like the idea of ownership) your offer doesn't sound like a great or even good deal.
But what do I know, I live 30 miles from work.
Good luck!
P.S. 5,000 miles sounds awfully low IMO. Once you get behind the wheel of an F-Type you're going to want to take the "long way" to work. The VERY long way.

That's my sticking point. Even with them being powder coated (as Foosh explained to me), the charge doesn't seem right to a certain degree. Assuming the rest of the deal is good, I'm trying to have them throw the illuminated tread plate in for free.
Thank you all for the comments! They are appreciated!

I would be in that same boat if I were back in the Northeast or South (and still driving 15-30 one way), but not having to jump on the 10 or 405 (etc.) freeways in L.A. everyday is great for me. I'm a ittle over a mile to work, but it still takes time. I will have my most fun drives on Canyon roads and the Pacific Coast Hwy. Yes. Any lease will be advantageous for my business, but I'm all ears to any particulars that make this a bad deal. I've only had two prior lease experiences, but those were for exotics around a decade ago.

As I've stated before, and have incurred the wrath of many by doing so, the only way a lease is truly advantageous is to charge it as a business expense and get Uncle Sam to pay half the cost of the lease. Otherwise you are paying a hefty price to guarantee the residual value and have someone else sell the car for you when you get tired of it. Since you are taking the car as a business expense, you appear to be headed in the right direction.Originally Posted by kaosinla

OK, since we've established the business benefit, there are two questions remaining:
1) Is this a good price?
2) Is this a good lease rate?
Without getting into chest pounding machismo about who got the best deal, I'll avoid price.
But, not being a lease expert, I THINK, the lease rate is the .00177 in the upper right corner annualized...or about 2.12% which is a tad higher than bankrate.com's new car loan rates, but comparable.
The biggest place that one can get taken on leases is the residual value. Intellichoice rates depreciation. They don't have data for 2016 F-Types, but using the depreciation from 2015 models and spreading them over 33 months rather than 36 months, history would indicate a 58% residual and your offer assumes a 67%...which is in your favor.
So, I'm admitting that I'm not an expert on leases, but it seems that there's not red flags there...so that simply brings you back to negotiating the best price you can get... in my humble and uninformed opinion...

A complete refurbishment of the finish should only be 100 or so per wheel.
For painting maybe, but a good, cured, powder coating job would be more like $200-$250 per wheel.Originally Posted by F-typical

OK, but I've been told there is "powder coating," and then there "high-quality powder coating." Maybe I was sold a bill of goods, but when I had the headers and side pipes done on my Shelby Cobra 427SC replica, the process took about 3 days after the application of powder for curing in some sort of chamber they had on the premises. If I recall it was about, $700 for 2 headers and side pipes.Originally Posted by F-typical

Granted, maybe this was a high-temp process for that application, which isn't really necessary for wheels, but on the other hand, I can also see the more complex process being more durable and resistant to scratches, etc.
However, I confess to not knowing all that much about the process.
