If you're ever in the area, be sure to check it out - every Saturday, 8:30-noon. It's a fairly wealthy area of the country so there's an entire row dedicated to exotic machinery and they aren't kidding, with stuff there a fair fraction of $1M. In the more pedestrian section, saw one 2014 V8S convertible F-Type and that was it, which isn't a bad thing, as it underscores that they really are fairly rare around here (or that Jag F-Type owners don't do C&C, hah).
Plodding our way home in the typical miserable traffic, we gained on another F-Type R. It was my first chance to pull up along side one, thinking we'd give each other a big thumb's up. Dude was texting..... sheez. Never mind then, and three points off your Man Card.

 

Where is it held these days? I used to be a regular spectator at the original Crystal Cove location as a college student, long before I had a car that would even be remotely considered worthy of showing. The Irvine Company kicked it out in 2006 and subsequent gatherings have never lived up to that level.

 

Yeah they got kicked out of Crystal Cove for pissing off people in nearby motels. Then they moved to the Ford Design center and that lasted a few years... until they pissed off people in nearby motels... So now it's at the Outlet Mall in San Clemene, next to I-5, off West Avenida Vista Hermosa. I'd guess that it's about as big as it was when it was at the Ford center. The only annoying part is that they don't let cars into that part of the parking lot until 8:30, so if you hang around a few hours and try heading home at 10:30, traffic sucks. Previously you'd get there at ~6am to get a good spot, leave at 8am, and still have the rest of the day, and clear roads. Oh well.
