Default Painted Engine Cover

Hey fellow F-Type brethren..... I was bored yesterday so I decided to spruce up my engine cover by painting it red. Here are some pics:

Do the cover first. Easier to change if u don’t like it.

Hey I'm curious, Looks like you painted over the silver jaguar letters when you sprayed the red - were they coated with something so you could remove it? Or did you then paint the jaguar letters? Tape?

Chap-stick works pretty well.

I masked the letters with tape and just peeled it off afterwards.

Does anyone know if the strut covers on the AWD car will fit a 2015 R? I think they would look great covered in Carbon Fiber. My concern is hood clearance.

Cool looks similar to my cover design, but smaller venting area.

Since I have a V8S, my cover is way different than you guys. Wonder where to cut or what to do

There's an older thread about the hood.

Yes the newer F-type use the smaller cover. For your cover I would personally dremel out the mushroom shape in the center and replace it with a mesh.

That looks nice. Specifically what kind of paint did you use - obviously a heat reisistant paint -but was it out of a spray can or did you mix it up and use a sprayer/ compressor? My f type is black on red and that would look pretty cool.

You actually don't need heat resistant paint as it does not get that hot. On mine I did use heat resistant on the bottom though, but I didn't on the top and it has held up fine. If course heat resistant is preferred but the colors are limited .

This is what I used.

Originally, I used a high temp spray paint. I believe it was a Rustoleum brand. Can’t remember for sure ‘cause I threw the can away already. It was supposed to be red also, but came out a bright orange. I’ll look for a picture.

This was how it looked at first. I put it next to a bottle of Tide detergent. Very close match. Hahaha. That’s why I painted it again with the darker Duplicolor red.
