Default Parking Brake stuck on brake job

Ok, I did a bonehead thing and forgot about the electric parking brake. After installing the new pads, I realized the brake needed to be retracted. I did the Brake Maintenance Mode and the parking brake piston fuly deployed and won't retract. I took off the actuator spindle to manual retract the piston, but when I turn it clockwise per instructions it just spins. Nothing like turning a 30 minute project into an all day affair.

Am I SOL?

I’ll ask the obvious - you did try pushing the piston in?

i note in this document that using this method, you need to calibrate the EPB afterwards.

Yep. The process did nothing and then the actuator just spins. I am think I may have screwed it up trying to force in to retract. Might be a new caliper in my future.

I don’t think so. I would start be disassembling the caliper down to its basic components and rebuilding from scratch. Your issue may be nothing more than getting the piston back to where it can grab some threads. You may have to apply pressure to the piston while you try to turn the actuator.
