Default Power Saving Mode

When I'm out cleaning or otherwise working on my cars I usually like to put the car radio or entertainment system on so I have some music while I'm working (garage not big enough to work inside unfortunately). On my F-Type I've been doing this by leaving the smart key on the driver seat and pressing start without the brake held down. This works, but after an infuriatingly short time the system shuts down, presumably some type of power saving mode. Does anyone know of any way I can bypass this as going back in to restart it and waiting for the phone to reconnect every 5 minutes is getting boring. Leaving the engine running really isn't an option as I'm usually messing around for a few hours at a time.

Thanks!

I think on some cars, when the radio turns off, you can push the radio power button and it will turn on again, without turning the ignition back on. Don’t know how long it stays on, as I’ve never tried it.

With all the computing load, leaving the ignition on for just 45 minutes will deplete the battery. There’s a reason that they programmed the auto-shutdown for such a short timeframe. Pressing just the volume button will indeed turn the sound system on , but that too will time out.

Our Echo Tap smart speaker can be run on it's own battery (no power cord). I can bring it to the spot in the yard or driveway where I'm doing work.

If I'm washing the car, I don't like to leave the windows down to listen to music, anyway!

The battery recharges when it is 'docked' in its base.

Thanks for the answers all. I think it's a bit stupid that the electrical load of just running the hifi is enough to discharge an enormous battery while a bluetooth speaker with a battery a thousandth of the size can manage the task just fine but maybe in standby the car is running a bunch of systems that aren't audio related. It sounds like just getting a bluetooth speaker is the way forward.

Yep, it times out after 10 minutes, and hitting just the sound system button turns the sound back on again, for another 10 minutes.
I once did this for four "restarts" in a row (waiting for my daughter - "I'll only be 10 minutes Dad" - yeah right!) and even after the fourth lot of 10 minutes there were no low battery warnings or any problems, so who knows how many lots of 10 minutes you can get without starting the engine.

A 5W 1-speaker Bluetooth unit draws a bit less power than a 770W 12-speaker sound system with 16 amplifier channels.
