Default Question about P450 and the R for 2022

Can anyone provide insight on the following:

I've been reading that the P450 and the R are essentially the same, hardware-wise. The difference is the "mapping" of the engine CPU.

Assertions are made that simply re-mapping the CPU on a P450 R-Dy to match that of the R would basically yield an R. Is this accurate?

I'm assuming the warranty would be revoked, but even considering that, I'd like to know how accurate that is.

Is the P450 R-Dynamic a simply detuned Type R?

Yes, the P450 engine is simply a detuned version of the R engine and they are mechanically identical.
There are various trim and cosmetic differences but no hardware differences that I am aware of.
Lots of discussion elsewhere on this forum about tuning during warranty and warranty claims but put simply JLR has every right to refuse a warranty claim if they detect a non-OEM tune and they consider that the tune contributed to or caused the problem that is the subject of the potential claim.
The tricky part is establishing the onus of proof - does JLR have to prove their case or do you have to prove the opposite, ie that the tune did not cause or contribute to the problem. From my reading JLR usually win because they have deeper pockets than you for the (large) legal bills.
You pays your money and you takes your chances!

Edit - not necessarily mechanically the same, the R is AWD only while the P450 offers a choice of AWD or RWD, well at least here in Oz not sure about US/Canada.

Doesn't the R have suspension parts that were previously on the SVR? Not sure if the P450 has them.

Mine is AWD. If I had gone RWD, I probably wouldn't be thinking about the tune. But I read you loud and clear on the risks. I think I'd be happy with just the remapping of the ECU, frankly...I'm not looking for the pulley, etc. Man I wish I had data to do a *realistic* risk assessment on the odds of that biting me in the butt.

Nor I...but I'm specifically referring only to the drivetrain.

I wish there was more clarity on differences between 450 and R. Is it really just the detuned engine? or is there more to it? Is transmission tune or suspension any different?
I'm surprised there is no official document or information from Jaguar.
