quick question is the plastic cover over the s c a is to protect the hood from engine heat or just window dressing ??

Window dressing and sound deadening.
It traps heat which is bad for SC/engine air temps so many of us have removed it permanently.

There is a different cover, made for the SVR, that attaches to the hood.
