There is a Youtube channel that I enjoy - Hooves Garage. His shtick is that he buys "Cheapest X in USA" and resulting disaster is inevitably entertaining. Are you thinking of a cameo appearance on his channel with this purchase?

For 29 grand why be up tight. If it doesn’t pan out give it to charity.

You are not going to find an answer to your question on the World Wide Web. In this case as in most cases you will find your answer the hard way. Research, test, inspect.,

if if you are in need of peace of mind, take 85 large down to your local Jaguar dealer. They will take care of you.

There are numerous sites to sort of value used cars. I like edmunds.com

Personally, I wouldn't buy a used Jaguar (or any other luxury car) out of warranty, since it'll be very expensive for parts & repairs down the road...

I've got 42k on my S and the only problem I've had is I popped a coolant hose off. Other than that, no issues. 50k miles for most cars isn't really all that much.

I bought my str with 136000 miles but looked ran and was taken care of like it had 20000. It is all based on how those 50000 miles got there and how well taken care of for me. Then i do the price checking

While 50K isn't an issue if water pump was sorted out, the low price should raise red flags. This car is being sold at a trade-in value for fair condition car of that year and mileage. It is deeply discounted. I suspect it has issues and accident history. If you decide to purchase it, make sure it is inspected by a mechanic and do full VIN search for accidents.

The issue with buying used supercars cheaply, is that undoing neglect or fixing lingering issues is very expensive. While your car might be only $29K, parts and service are priced for $100K car. It is a lot more economical to buy clean example that needs minimal work then to buy cheapest one available and then be stuck holding a bag on this.

Let me take a wild swing... salvage title, right?
If so, then you need to be aware that a Salvaged or Lemon other otherwise "Branded" title vehicles are worth 50% of what a non-branded vehicle is worth.
There is a REASON they are only asking $29K and that reason is probably because the car is only REALLY worth $20K and they are putting $9K in their pocket whenever they sell it to an un-knowledgeable buyer (aka Sucker). So, the bottom line is... do your research, spend what the vehicle is worth (say $20K in this case) and then be ready for a LOT of pain to bring it back from the dead with FULL KNOWLEDGE that it will ALWAYS be a branded vehicle so will ALWAYS have to be sold for about 50% of the going market (because that is all anyone with any knowledge would be willing to pay).

If it has a "Good" title and the maintenance and cosmetics are up to par, that's a whale of a deal. I got $38 K when I traded in my 2014 S with 38,000 miles for the 2016 R in September. Of course my trade in was perfect inside and out, but I suspect that there is something hiding under the paint of that $29,000 car.

It looks like this is the vehicle the OP is considering...

Seems like it’s being passed from one owner to another like a hot potato.

And the very worn (abused) controls on the steering wheel do not suggest gentle usage...

Ultimately it has two owners and some wear and tear. I wouldn’t be too concerned about either. Buttons on these things can wear. With 50k miles and an owner that uses the stereo, I am not surprised to see wear on those. She would get a thourough inspection and take a look yourself. It may be worth a shot if this is what you want and your budget. Certainly budget for some repairs and look into an aftermarket warranty, but I wouldn’t be too scared off provided you do your due diligence.

Good news is that it always has been registered in Texas. This removes at least some of the questions of "washing" titles through other states so this one looks legit. Another + is that $29K is rock-bottom WHOLESALE value if you bought as a DEALER directly at a Manheim auction so it's as cheap as you can get one.. even if your a dealer.. I agree with the others, do your due diligence & buy it if it checks out.

PS - Looks like it was even a CPO car at one point but the later resales dont show that so somewhere along the line it either expired or someone did not properly process the CPO paperwork so it appears to no longer be covered as CPO which may be a good thing as it would be $7K higher asking price if it was still CPO.

Car looks fine from what you can see. A few scuffs on the buttons - one of the owners must have had some finger nails. We all know how easy these buttons can wear, common issue. Price is right for a very base model with that mileage.

My concern is the # of previous owners in only 4 years. No one kept this long - either there are issues that no one wanted to fix so they are passing it along or - no one figured on keeping it long so no one did any maintenance on it. Has it even had a regular oil change done on it? Carfax shows no real service visits except for a tire change and a visit to "Kwik Kar Auto Centre" which does not scream Jag Knowledgeable.

If you go for it - make darn sure you take it to a knowledgeable Jag mechanic and get a thorough PPI done on it.

50k miles should not withhold one to purchase a car. An average car should easily be able to triple that number if maintained correctly.
