Scotty Kilmer and the Jaguar F-Type
Hi guys,
go straight to the 7:55 time marker for Scotty's viewpoint on Jaguar. He always reminds me of a Mad Scientist. What do you think about what he has to say.

Chery Jaguar Land Rover is a 50/50 venture between TATA and Chery. Only this subsidiary is jointly owned by China establishing production in mainland China for the Chinese market. JLR is wholly owned by TATA. This guy either got his information second hand, or reading comprehension isn't his one of his stronger traits.
…And remember kids....Stay off the Crack!...Or this may happen to you. And BTW...John Lennon called and wants his specs back …Babbling idiot

To Scotty unless you have an older Toyota just about EVERYTHING is [his motto] “it’s a money pit”. He can be and often is extremely informative and he’s certainly always animated. I also think he was the first You-Tuber (maybe just in the automotive sector?) to garner a billion views. And, as we all know about You-Tubers, etc., it’s all about views and likes.
Speaking of which, please like my [this] post. JUST KIDDING!
I do like that he doesn’t take $ from any manufacturers—of anything—and with the viewership he has, doesn’t have to; he’s still raking in millions.

I sure wish YouTube had a feature to block content by certain people. Kilmer's videos would be among them. Way too much clickbait on top of an annoying personality.
However, I do have to hand it to him for generating what is likely a pretty good income from YouTube.

While I agree with most comments here, it is also hard to disagree (apart from the China thing) with much of what he is saying.
It is a fact that we are all going to give up a lot of depreciation on resale. It is probably disproportionate as a percentage but is certainly disproportionate in dollars compared to $50k vehicle.
Afterall, isn't that why many members here choose to buy low mileage used vehicles that are 5+ years old?
So, no denying we likely all paid too much..
In terms of reliability, I have already had the gremlins in the elecrtonics on a brand new F-Type.
No such issues with my A7 which came with better electronics to start with.
No such problems with my older Jeep which actually has voice activated Siri.
Hell, my MIL's $22K Honda has better electronics.
Having said all that, I must assume that we all (or at least many of us) went into buying a Jaguar eyes wide open.
I bought new. I got an $8K incentive from JLR.
I expect to lose $40K (off of $86K) in 5 years.
I plan to drive the full 60K miles and sell it before the 5 years warranty and free maintenance ($200/hr) expires.
And at least it does not rust out like my old XJ6.
Without the 5 year/60K warranty and free service, I would never have touched a Jaguar.
BUT, I do like driving the car, and I thought I knew pretty much what to expect.

I wonder how many uncountable letters Scotty get from the HOA about neighbors complaints regarding noise (he talks too loud), every intro on his videos he revs up the engine & do a tire screeching. He also have his garage as seen on his earlier videos converted into an auto repair shop. I don't want to be his neighbor not even on the street where he lives

Well these are strange times for depreciation - my Jaguar dealer offered me $6K more this month for my 2016 than they did in March. The head says take their money. The heart says don't be stupid you didn't buy it as a financial instrument. Rising tides lift all boats so what would you replace it with and the predictions are things aren't likely to improve much beyond '22 due to the lack of capacity at the chip fab places. They just don't have spare capacity to backfill cancelled orders.
The problem for JLR is still the ghosts of Lucas electrical. Stories of people driving their TR7 in the rain and finding the wipers came on by themselves (and no auto wipers were not a thing back then) shortly before the car stalled and burst into flames under the hood/bonnet. Like mother in law jokes, everybody has one. It's funny how some of the tide for BMW has turned now and the "legendary German engineering" has a small print that says "only if it's a lease and you get rid of it after three years".

And, who is going to trust the opinion of a guy that has a garage that looks like its something straight out of Hoarder Magazine.
I should add it's really not as bad as he makes it out to be...

He's clearly a student of history if he thinks the reliability woes of the 1970s and 80s are prevalent today. And to demonstrate how "they fall apart" by showing a picture of a car that's been crashed is a bit of a stretch - even a Toyota would "fall apart" during a crash. Why are the people who are so loudly opinionated so ignorant as well?
With multiple uploads a day, it's safe to say that Kilmer puts a huge amount of time into his YouTube channel. It's paid off too: The 67-year-old makes an estimated $1.39 million a year, according to Net Worth Spot.Aug 30, 2021
