Default So I crashed...

as the title says my night was not the best, driving down the road on my way to a photoshoot doing around 50mph, it had recently rained so roads were slick, the Hurricane has been bringing over lots of random little rain storms. Going straight car hydroplaned and went off the road. Im probably the luckiest person alive as the car was inches away from slamming into a guard rail and I just barely missed a huge tree. It could have been a lot worse and luckily there were no other cars around. the body doesn't have a scratch, while the rims are damaged badly, and possibly suspension damage. on another note if anyone has an extra rim, my style of course, color doesn't matter please let me know, email- Phillipberk.uschool@gmail.com or text (561)-236-6280. PS. Very glad I had a dash-cam, very worthwhile investment.

Not much tread on those tires. The good thing is that parts can be fixed much easier than your body so glad there were no injuries.

Yep, can't see much in the way of tread grooves/channels or sipes for channelling away water so despite the dash cam footage the insurance company might put up a fight claiming defective tyres were the major cause of the off.
If the damage really is just to wheels and tyres then I wouldn't even bother making a claim.

Ya tires have 10,000 miles on them but they had a weird tread pattern, they were definitely on the way out. Didn't plan on claiming insurance anyway, new wheel is 500 bucks, new tires are a 1000, alligment and under body protection another 500 so not worth the premium raise and carfax.

Looks like the Firehawk Indy tires. If so, those have been reported to be a handful in the wet (even when new). Hopefully you only have damage to the wheel. A better set of tires will definitely help you out in conditions like that. Good luck!

Ya they are the Indy tires, the dealer had just put them on when I bought it, random question, the car was a CPO, and I know for a fact that those are not factory tires, was I dooped? were they supposed to put on factory tires?

It doesn’t look like there was enough damage done to the wheel to indicate probable suspension damage. However, be certain to get a full wheel alignment before driving on the new tires and wheel.

From what I've seen on the CPO report it just specifies they must be above a certain tread depth -- I don't think it specifies the brand. Mine came with the OEM Pirellis but only because they had been semi recently replaced by the PO so the dealer didn't need to. I used them for burnout practice.

Factory tires, P-Zeros are not great for wear and wet handling. You want Michelin Pilot 4S.

It happens that on a few occasion I found myself off the track and in the green. In such cases I find stabilizer links and front control arms should be treated as a suspect, even if rims are not bent.

They are 10x better than the Firehawks in the wet.

+1. The PS4S are astoundingly sticky in the rain. Much better even than the Michelin PSS.

BTW, I'm referring to the PZero's compared to the Firehawks that were put on the car.

Precisely why I have the PS4S. I feel way more secure in the wet and the dry. Run don't walk to TireRack and grab some PS4S :-) Expensive......but I often say, Buy once, cry once :-)

Or for anyone that wants to spend slightly less than PS4S, you can go with the Continental Extreme Contact Sport.

Wow - that's quite a spin. Glad that you and the car are ok! As you say could have been a lot worse. That was with the traction control systems on?
Surprising to see it spin so easily!

Yup thats Traction control fully on. Just bought a set of PS4's and ordered the new rims, now just have to see what is bent or damage causing the wheels to bend inward.
