So long, folks!
Don’t buy a performance car with that many miles…moral of the story. Who knows how hard it was driven before you picked it up. Also, don’t buy any car from the first couple years of its debut…they’re still working out issues at that point. Finally, if you are going to buy a used performance car, get one with a year or two of warranty left so it’s the dealer’s problem as you work through any issues. Just some words of advice to those looking at used Jags…the depreciated price can be a trap that pulls you into writing endless checks.

This basically brings together everything I was sorta thinking in my head and didn’t say, and if one is going to purchase such a thing then they need to get their expectations right from day one. That said, everyone has both a dream and a budget that they are trying to bring together, so these things can unfortunately place out once the reality stage sets in.

If I every got another sports car it would very likely be another F-Type. I took a few drives in it that absolutely changed my understanding of speed and grip and steering feel. It was an outstandingly fun car.
Good luck and thanks for posting.
For new owners:
1. Put the 2500 dollars into metal coolant pipes, a new water pump, a solid s/c coupler, fluids in all diffs and the s/c. When there, new plugs. It can save a lot long term..like the engine.
2. Change oil every 3-5k miles with good oil and good filter.
3. Don't use OBB2 things unless you are sure they won't kill your battery....really...the biggest issue on this for me is the smog testing via OBD2..
4. I use BG44k every month or three. Just me. Placebo effect perhaps.
5. To make the car modern(er) - put a CARPLAY unit in it if not in it stock and add LED bulbs if pre-facelift. Done.

Try looking at your experience this way.
Life is full of challenging situations. You can either play the victim and say, "Woe is me," or you can use this event as an opportunity to learn and grow. This lesson only cost you USD10K. That's a cheap one. Hopefully you will benefit commensurately.
There truly is an equal amount of good and bad in everything. Concentrate on the good and you will live a happy life.

Thanks, Immanuel Kant, but I'm confused as to how you think I am viewing this experience and how why you think I need a life lesson right now from some guy on the internet? I said exactly the things you said. It was a learning experience, I don't think the brand/model is a bad one, I think the one I had was bad, I threw in the towel after reaching a financial point I was not comfortable surpassing and I stopped by here to thank those who helped me along the way. I'm not certain how you construe that to mean I am playing the victim? Or why you think I need to use the sale of a $25,000 used car as a tool for personal growth? It's just a car.
This is a what you think is me telling people a sad story (my original post):
I then answered the specific questions as to what was driving my decision, so I don't see your point.
Just wanted to say a quick thanks to the folks that lent a hand as I dipped my toe into Jaguar ownership. While it was certainly not a good experience for me, it was an eye-opening one and one that actually helped me to recalibrate what is important to me. I have thankfully sold my F-type and can't wait to see it hauled away on a tow truck for the last time.
I'll be selling some nice SSR wheels and Continental tires at some point soon if anyone has any interest.
Good luck, have fun, drive safely!

Just so I'm clear as I navigate the remainder of my life without your guidance, how was relaying my experience, acknowledging it to be atypical, acknowledging my lack of preparedness for the potential costs, and then praising the car for what it is, presenting a "woe is me" tale?
Sovande, there is a site that I've run across online that starts out as "Am I the *******?" No, you are not. Go ahead and enjoy your life without thinking about those who are. Just saying......

Buying the car the way you did would be similar to seeing a very pretty face on a dating site, interviewing her best friend and mom, then going right to the altar. After the marriage quickly ends in a trillion tears, you could say that it was, "bad luck," but I am a big believer that man makes his own hell in this world.
We are a pretty select group here in that we all really enjoy our cars and for the most part take really good care of them. Who the hell knows what everybody else is doing but you can rest assured that many F Type owners are beating the sh*t out of them. That being the case, one must be exceedingly careful in purchasing a used F Type [or any high performance sports car]. I am sure you would go about your next purchase with a great deal more diligence [and be much luckier].
As the coolant pipe replacement comes up often can anyone please confirm that my 2020 R has the upgraded system and wont need replacing? Or is there still weak points?
I currently have 30 000KMS with a week long trip coming up so all the chatter has me a little concerned even at my mileage .
Thank you

To add to this, my coolant pipes were the old style and did not split, but the end of the pipes that entered the block were deteriorated and started leaking. Just another thing to keep in mind.
