Mine was a 1977 Dodge Tradesman 100 cargo van (sorry no pic). It had a 225 slant six swap in it from a 1972 Dart. My father was moving and it was easier to give his awful van to me instead of junking it. I once had 13 people in it. Good times...

When I was 15, I took my driving lessons on this Hindustan Ambassador which was based on Morris Oxford from 1950's. I will be 35 this year!

My first car was a 1966 Mustang coupe with a 289, four speed and custom dual exhaust, I bought that car in 1975. I really didn't want the Mustang but my Dad persuaded me that I should get a young person's car. I kept it for less than a year then bought the car that I really wanted, a 1964 Cadillac series 62 convertible. Didn't buy another Mustang until 2007.

Mine was a 1977 Volkswagen Scirocco. Spent $1200 to buy that piece of garbage around 1994. I had to replace the gas tank, starter (twice), generator (thrice), clutch cable, several batteries, and a bunch of electronics.

It came with an 8-track player, which I thought was quaint in the mid 90s. Sold it for $950, and felt bad for the poor sap who bought it off me.

All that said, it was zippy and surprisingly fun to drive. Here's one in a lot better shape than mine was:

Not only do I have a picture of my first car, I have a picture of 16-year-old me picking it up the day I bought it! I had just been handed the keys when this photo was taken.

I think my excitement is pretty obvious.

1990 Nissan 240SX

*And no, that's not a stain on my armpit, it's a stain on the very old photo I scanned.

Bought brand new in 2001. Came WITHOUT a/c, abs, powered windows, radio basically just the engine (1.4 litter 59 HP, top of the line engine) and a sloppy 5 speed tranny.

I did love it though.

Appears to be a re-engineered French car?

I admit I've been wondering what the heck that is.

That is a romanian made, Dacia 1310.

Based off of a 1975 Renault 5 iirc. They made this things for about 30 years with minor changes, until the brand was purchased by Renault.

They are now sold worldwide as a budget brand. Their compact is called Sandero and sells for about 7,200 euros or about $8,200.

Default 1984 Renault Encore

Not my car, but looked exactly like this.

God, I hated that car. I had to carry quarts of transmission fluid with me as it leaked like a sieve from faulty seals I could never seem to get fixed. Good Riddance. Was my first car buying experience from a dealer who ripped me off royally on a loan that had a higher interest rate than a credit card at the time.

But, I used the experience to become an educated car buyer and negotiator.

I hope they crushed it when I traded it in on 1989 for a new Acura Integra LS.

1977 Ford Pinto, though the same year, model, and color, this is a much nicer looking example of my first car.

This the first vehicle I owned. Was in rough shape when I got it so I had to spend a couple months fixing it up. I also spray painted it matte black. In the end I only end up keeping it around for 6 months before I sold it to a friend of my brother. I think I sold it mostly because of the fear of death by fire as the 74-77 models had been recalled at some point earlier due to an issue with their fuel filler leaking in a rear-end collision. At least that is how I remember it.
