Weak points fixed on MY2020->
Hello,
I am thinking what after (x351) XJ ?
My XJ do have already age of consirned an old car and numbers on odometer get higher and higer, so been looking for next wheels.
Been thinking to get last hurray of V8 before step to the EV era. (even my XJ still looking like milj $$$ and turning heads on our corporate lot)
Not really need of 4 seater, so been looking MY2020-> F-Type. There seems to be 2 models available as V8; P450 and R575. As far i have been understand the vehicle is same, but engine tune is different?
Any info have the weak points on AJ133 engine been fixed on MY2020-> model? (engine water piping & water pump)
(been able to DIY these myself but it would be nice to know in advance)
Thanks for your thoughts.

Yes - in later years the P450 is the same engine with a lesser tune.
I went from a 2010 XF V8 SC to the SVR. Stay with the V8 as long as you can! You could consider the F Pace which also has the 5.0 SC as an option if you want more space
Plastic cooling pipes are much better than the 2010-2015 era on the XJ /XF with the plastic seam that was a weak point. But / they are still plastic so there is still some risk as there is on most cars today. Water pump is much better than on the early XJ/XF cars
It's a very different drive than the XJ - in a good way but different. So id suggest you have some seat time to see if you like the feel. Sharper, tighter, less 'cosseted'

Please note that the three failure-prone plastic pipes can be replaced with exact-fit metal substitutes; the two front pipes in metal are available either as OEM JLR pipes or as aftermarket pieces. The rear manifold pipe is available in metal as an aftermarket unit but as far as I am aware, not as a JLR piece. All the above for both the 3.0 and 5.0 supercharged engines, identical for the front pipes, but the aftermarket rear manifold pipe is slightly different for the two engines.
Thanks for your comments.
How about rest of the car? Same brakes etc?
Yes. Been reading plastics and waterpump issues on AJ133 and by time/revisions parts have got better. (weird is that on PSA/Ford origin 3.0L diesel don´t suffer these issues at all. Exsample waterpumps practically last age of vehicle. I have currently >200t miles (>320t km) on mine with original waterpump and piping)
Good thing is that metal parts have been appeared on markets.
F-Type will not be harsh for me. Thanks for warning. As i am ex racing driver, nothing streetlegal is not even near compared the single seater of fast go-kart with sticky slicks and steering with max 140 degree turn radius. In fact driven F-Type V6 once when it was launched on 2014, but ofcourse its now long time ago. (and been left my racing hobby already behind).
F-Pace is not for me. None of SUV:s warm my heart at all, no matter what are under hood. (maybe then when i give up the "petrol head" mood and step on EV?)
Also XJ have V8 575 version, but very rare in Europe. Most sold in UK or US.
Btw: Anybody have the dimensions of F-Type coupe trunk?

The F-Type has three difference brake set-ups (four if you count the carbon ceramics):
Performance: 355 mm front and 326 mm rear. Standard on the "base" model V6 and the four potter.
High Performance: 380 mm front and 326 mm rear. Standard on the V6S and P380 and I think R-Dynamic.
Super Performance: 380 mm front and 376 mm rear. Standard on all V8 versions so V8S, R and SVR etc, optional on V6S etc.
Your XJ will have the equivalent of the Performance brakes so 355 mm front and 326 mm rear so unless you spring for a base model V6 or four potter F-Type you would be upgrading the brakes.
Plenty of room in the F-Type coupe trunk, at least as much as the XJ boot, as long as you remove the spare (space saver) tyre which only a few of the early models came with anyway, and the cargo cover for even more room.
