Default Weird buttons

I was browsing through the local used F-Type ads and came across one very similar to mine with this pic included:

Does anyone known what these buttons are for, and whereabouts in the car they are located? I've never seen them anywhere else.
Are they controls or just indicators for such things as heated seats?
The one on the right looks like M for manual and A for auto but if that is correct manual and auto what exactly?

At a guess I would say they are for the seats. They don't seem to be fitted very well though.

Those are not original equipment.

Appears to be an aftermarket seat heater / cooler. Not sure about the M & A.

Those are aftermarket buttons someone has fitted to what looks like a plastic seat trim panel as it is not a leather/PVC surface, not a soft-feel or gloss plastic one. If it weren't for the obviously aftermarket decals the fact the holes where drilled too large is a giveaway!

My guess is someone has added heater pads to a car that was not specced with heated seats from the factory. The fan button will reduce the temperature and the heater button will increase it, with the current setting shown on the centre LEDs. Not sure what the M/A buttons do. Maybe different control programs for the heaters, or they might be for something completely different that they just mounted there for convienience.

The only aftermarket buttons that should be installed in any Jag are these:

Those are cheap Chinese seat heaters on eBay.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...r+kit&_sacat=0

I have never seen a F without heated seats. I don't get it.

I added heat and massage in my Frontier when I had my seats custom covered in BMW napa leather but the controls were in a wired remote.

Who would do this?

Different markets get different options as standard. I suspect down in Oz there is not enough demand for heated seats to make it a standard option. Even if it was an optional extra I bet many wouldn't spec it because they get so heavily taxed on imported luxury cars. Their online car builder doesn't even give prices.

I fitted aftermarket heated pads in the rear of my X-Type as they were never a factory option, and mounted some small |-0-|| rocker switches on the rear of the centre floor console to control them. They were actually nicer than the OEM front pads.

On the F-Type though the switch hardware is always there and can be enabled in the CCF if not fitted. Wiring is easy to add (only needed for the seats, the car side wiring is preinstalled, and even if you replaced the entire OEM harness it is only £30 new). If you are going to the hassle of removing thw seat covers you would surely add the OEM pads at £40 a pop for standard seats and £100 a pop for the performance ones?

The switches on that car above are just awful. Almost comically bad.

I don't see the point in adding massage to the F-Type seats as you can always fit over-seat massage covers if you have a need for them.

That's a very good point about South Africa market not needing heated seats as a standard option. I was looking at it from a US perspective.

In my Frontier installation, the heater/massage kit was $499 installed, and the heater alone was $399. Thats why one would just opt in on massage in my case. I traded the upholsterer a Warrior playoff ticket two years ago for the entire job including doors and center console. The wrinkles you see stretched out and the job looked really good in a month. I paid for the factory BMW Imola red leather ($185). He said he'd charge $2500 for a job like this. To this day you still can't get a Frontier w leather. Good switches would look nicer than my bulky remote you can see the wire in my cupholder.

Heated seats weren't standard on my 2014. Part of the climate package (which was part of the premium package.)

Must be MUCH older, and I quote: "MI7 was reformed at the outset of the Second World War in September 1939 as a largely civilian Press and Propaganda section of the War Office Directorate of Military Intelligence. It was transferred to the Ministry of Information in around June 1940."

Don't worry I can take as much (or more) than I give...

and since I'm a smart arsed ex-pat Scottish ******* (AKA legal US immigrant) then maybe we can look forward to some exciting times ahead....

Edit: WTF '*******' - this forum is censored?
