Default Wheels...

A couple of threads about rims have me thinking. My car is Ammonite Gray with 19" Orbits in Gloss Black/Diamond-Turned. I like them, but I also like some of the aftermarket rims I see on HRE's website. My questions:

1. Weight and rotational inertia are important obviously, so with the Orbits:
a) weight?
b) rotational inertia?
c) are they forged or cast?

2. I like the look of the "Storm" wheels. At least I think thats what they are... looks like delicate spokes. I'd like to go to 20", so if I'm going to spend some coin to change out my wheels, I want to not only improve the looks, but the weight, inertia, etc.
a) anyone want to trade? My tires only have 3500 miles on them!
b) any ideas on options that have that "storm" look? Aftermarket?

Thanks

yes, lower weight is nice, but you're not going to feel the difference on the street.

Forgive my ignorance on this but ...
When ordering a new car and specifying the wheels, presumably the speedometer is set for those wheels?
So if one changes the rim size presumably it means that the speedo reads differently from before ?
Assuming that the speed is traditionally read from the drivetrain and not GPS.

typically the cars equipped with smaller rim sizes have correspondingly larger sidewalls so the actual circumferences in the tire is the same. I haven't done the math on the F types with 19" wheels vs. the ones with 20's but that's usually how it's done.

additionally some modern cars have the ability to input different tire sizes into the computer to correct for any changes or optional wheel/tire sets.

I'm curious, does anyone know if the 19" Gloss Black/Diamond-Turned wheels are the same width as the 19" Propellers?

In any event, I have been looking for another set of wheels for winter use with some all-season tires, and have been heavily considering the 19" Orbits. If you want to work out a deal on your old set, with or without tires, please send a PM!

All the OEM 19" wheels are 8.5" in front and 9.5 in back.
