I took a day off this week and decided to spend some of it pulling the wheels to clean and coat them with the Pinnacle Black Diamond I'd bought recently. It was pretty tedious, but I'd forgotten what color the wheels really were. They're bright again. It'll be a bit before I can judge cleanup though.

I haven't tried that product, but I hope the results justify your effort. I've pulled the wheels on other cars several times to apply different products claiming to do the same thing. Of course, they're always beautiful when you're done. They just don't stay that way very long, and that effort failed my cost/benefit analyses.

One major reason I've recently become so enamored with the effectiveness of Sonax is that (with Gyrodynes at least) you can spray the inside of the wheel barrels with the wheels on the car. It clings to even the top of the barrels, and end result is 90% clean with just a hose off. With a Wheel Woolie, you can quickly agitate the inner wheel barrels while the product is soaking, hose off, and they're at 99.9% clean.

I used Opti-Seal on my C30 wheels and cleanup was pretty easy but they're 5-spoke and very open, so easy to clean in the first place. I removed them initially for cleaning to get rid of undercoating overspray.

The F-Type wheels (silver Centrifuge) I have are more difficult for two reasons: More spokes, and the brakes are so big my skinniest wheel brush won't fit next to the caliper.

They're clean now, so I'll consider Sonax going forward.

Google "Wheel Woolies." They're available in all kinds of sizes, and you can purchase a set with several different sizes. They're durable, have long handles, and make wheel cleaning very easy. However, with Sonax, I only need to use them about every 4th cleaning.

I've been using a Speed Master brush, but will pick up some Wheel Woolies. Autogeek carries them, and they're my source for detailing products.

BierNut, did you receive the pads? If so, how are they working?

I've just been looking at a brand new set of standard rear pads for the V8. They are:

1. Tiny;
2. Remarkably thin.

Either the pad material is very different to anything I've used before (which included AP and Brembo 4-piston set ups), or they don't do a lot...

Well, the good news is, the front Brakes do a huge majority of the work.

Brake dust seems to always be a problem on JLR vehicles, I have dark Pewter colored wheels on my Range Rover Sport, almost brake dust colored, the problem is though, it's hard to keep the big red Brembo's clean.

Hmmm... I wonder if they could be retrofitted to an F-type....

Akebono ceramic pads have solved the dust issue on my last few BMWs - they are excellent pads, as well...

Has anyone been able to confirm who the manufacturer of the various brake packages actually is? I've heard both Bosch and Brembo - not sure which is the case.

Oh sure, there's lots of solutions for Audi, BMW, MB, and Porsche, etc. Good luck finding them for the F-Type. We've been talking about alternative pads on this forum for nearly 2 years now, and yet no one has documented an installation of alternative pads here.

After I purchased my 435i with MSport brakes (Brembo setup) over two years ago, I contacted Akebono to see if they offered a low dusting pad alternative. I keep calling back periodically, but they have yet to produce any. Meanwhile, I found another manufacturer for the front pads, but have still had no luck with the rears.

I don't even have my F-Type yet, but I can tell you for sure that I'll install low dusting pads on it as soon as they're available.

It looks like StopTech has one option now for all models.

Shaun,

I've seen these posted as available, but as I noted above, I've yet to see anyone report installing them.

i sorta of skipped to the end of the thread, lol.

i used these pads before on my 350z when i ran stoptech brakes. excellent bite for the street and dust is pretty minimal, especially compared to the oem pads.

I have had the Posi-Quiet Semi-Metallic brake pads on my 2010 XFR for nearly a year now.
Front 380 mm and rear 376 mm, so I'm pretty sure they are the same as the F-Type R pads.
Being semi-metallic as opposed to ceramic they are not as low dust as ceramic pads.
But they are still a helluva lot better for dust than the stock pads, about 1/3 as much dust.
The initial bite is not as strong as the stock pads, but I found the stock pads to be very grabby and almost like an on-off switch, which made smooth progress in stop-start traffic almost impossible. The Posi-Quiets are much more progressive and smoother, although braking power is down a little bit. As an added bonus they are relatively cheap.

Posi-Quiets are the pads that I put on the front of my 435i MSport. If there's a braking difference versus the OEM pads, I can't tell. What I can tell is that they don't dust near as much as the OEM pads. If these work, they will definitely go on my F-type.

Great, I'm trying to get just one single positive confirmation that they fit the F-Type. I don't trust what the company says because I've had too many experiences w/ vendors claiming parts fit, when they don't.
