Default Winter driving experience on V6 Base MT Coupe?

Curious to hear about any experiences that people may have driving the V6 Base in the winter (with winter tires) in cold climates (ie with snow!).

Too early to likely find anyone who has a V6 manual transmission but even those with an automatic -- how did you find the winter driving in the base model? My main concern is that the base doesn't have limited slip differential.

I have the option of parking my coupe for the winter and driving a friend's SUV for the winter OR buying winter rims & tires and driving the F-Type all winter. Curious to get some opinions on whether to drive the Jag all winter or not? I'm in Toronto Canada so there will definitely be snow, slush, ice, etc.

I suppose a further alternative is to drive the Jag on "good" days -- but I think I will still need to buy winter tires/rims because the stock tires probably won't handle well at those below freezing temps.

help?

I'll be driving all winter. Got Pirelli SottoZeros lined up, but need to find some nice 19" wheels. The GTA gets plowed pretty good, but you'll need winter tires for sure. Unsure about how much LSD will be helpful.

Go Jays!

DuhCar,
I got a brand new set of 19" Propellers (14 miles). Interested? I'd have the right TPMS sensors for you as well.

With proper tires, the lack of an LSD is not an issue for winter driving. You're more likely to have a problem with ground clearance in deep snow.

Limited Slip Differential. Look it up on Wikipedia for understandable explanation.

In the end, I decided to bite the bullet and buy wheels and rims. I'm getting Braelin BR06s staggered setup on Blizzak LM32s. Hopefully, this will stick the car to the ground.

Those are very nice and will look great on the F-Type. Can you publish the size and offset specs here?

Specs are:

Fronts: 19x8.5, 45 Offset
Rears: 19 x 9.5, 25 offset

The bore holes are custom drilled -- 63.3mm for a perfect fit.

Manufacturer is Braelin -- out of Quebec. Their website has a customized viewer to show what these rims will look like on any color F-type -- pic attached showing these BR06s on Polaris white (seems like their viewer may not know that the 2016s come standard with the panoramic roof ).

Truth be told, my first choice was these in black -- but they were out of stock until late december. So, I settled on these in silver. Still looks good in silver -- since my summer/stock OEMs are the 19" black and diamond turned the silver BR06s will give me a different look for winter.

Thanks. I like silver better on Polaris, obviously.

I've got a set of 'Coventry' 19" wheels and the snow tires are excellent, I can't remember if they are Toyo or Yoko-- tires, but they have the walnut technology. Good deep tread for snow and great on ice. Much better than Pirelli or Mich..
Had them on my XKR, but I won't be using them on the FtypeR... All four are sized to the front tire width to reduce snow-planning in the rear. I live in Central Ontario and we get lots of snow. The car was surprisingly good in the snow up to being 'high-centered'.
Decided I might as well sell them, if anyone is interested.
Lawrence.

Can anyone who is good at mathing tell me the difference between using these in the rear for winter at 19 x 8.5 with a 42 offset versus the stock 19 x 9.5 propellers? Hopefully it is not too noticeable....

Thanks.

It should be OK. The difference is only about 1/4". The offset of the rear Propellers is 27mm, to compensate for the extra 1" of width. The front Propellers are 49mm.

It would be like mounting your front tires on the rear. If you want to test fit, you could simply jack up one side of the car, and try that.

Or you could just buy this set of Propellers currently on eBay. That's a smoking deal at $699 for the set.

Thanks Foosh. I was hoping it would be marginal.
