Would you switch from V6S Coupe to SVR Convertible?
I'm currently leasing a V6S Coupe spec'd exactly how I think it looks best - black/black with black pack, black wheels. I'm looking at switching it up and going for a black SVR convertible.
I'm torn. The coupe looks undeniably better to my eye. But I like the idea of being able to put the top down while carving up the canyons (I live in LA), and the sound and acceleration of the SVR are undeniable. On the other hand, perhaps the V6 has more "usable" power through the canyons, and it is lighter....
I'd love to hear what you would do in my situation.
Thanks!

True. The attraction of the open cockpit has always intrigued me however the aggressive look of a coupe has always outweighed that by a long shot. Now if only they offered a targa option..

Exactly what I have been saying! Give me a targa and I wouldn't be sitting her hemming and hawing...
I'm afraid I will
-Miss the coupe's styling too much
-Grow weary of the absolute madness that is the SVR's engine noise
-Have a car with too much power to effectively use in canyons
On the other hand...
-Open-air
-575hp
Decisions.

I had a great normally aspirated XK Caviar over Caramel. It had as much power as I needed and it was great to drive and looked great.
I had it for a year and a half and just could not stand it anymore. Had to go back to a convertible and traded it on the F-Type.

The F Type is the first convertible I have owned, I have been a coupe man my whole life. I do prefer the coupe styling over the convertible however it wasn't an option when I bought ( January 2014)
What I will say however is I have absolutely not got tired of the V8 noise or power (and I use it daily), it always brings a smile to my face, the noise in particular is insane.
Coming from Ferrari and 911 Turbo ownership it is saying something that the F Type has held my attention for so long.

But the convertible has better styling than the coupe. For me the only problem with the SVR's look is the boy racer mini wing on the back which just seems so out of character for the rest of the car. At least the nose still looks good, unlike the really overdone cladding on the XKRS.

Sez you. There are those here who disagree. I mean, I don't anthropomorphize my F-Type, but it thinks you're mistaken.
The wing is certainly a matter of taste. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I could get used to it, more so top-down.

Is this really even a question? I'm not a fan of the spoiler, either, but the SVR is the best of the breed. I have an R coupe, but there are definitely days that I wish I had the vert. Generally speaking the price difference from R to SVR isn't worth it, but that will change over time. It you have a good deal, I'd say go for it.

Not that I knock the 'vert - one of my business partners wont drive anything else - they just arent my cuppa.
