Default XJ13 Recreation on BaT

You read that right - an XJ13. I had never heard of one and had to look it up. Only one XJ13 was ever built, which explains why I had never had of it.

Current bid is $82,001. Auction ends in two days.

Cool, but it appears to be a reproduction and not a 1 of 1

The thread title indicates a "Recreation" of a 1 of 1. I think he noted that last part to explain why he'd never heard of the XJ13. I had not either. The actual listing is quite detailed.

I like it. Even though it's a replica, it's got style and proper running gear.

According to my "Jaguar: The Engineering Story" by Jeff Daniels (2004), the XJ13 was "Mid V12-engined Le Mans car (in Bob Knight's 1966 memo 'Open 2-seater - R.E').

"From the 1950s until 1994 Jaguar identified its engineering programmes with XJ numbers. There is an assumption that XJ stands for Experimental Jaguar. but the truth is a little more compicated." I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to find out the "truth" as it's a lot to type and I'm lazy.
