Hi Graham, Just speaking with jaguar classic parts and they advise that the B is correct for England as we don't get to know our individual model year, just that it is a X300!

 

I blew the dust off my old X300 file to check the VIN and, sure enough, my 1996 XJ Sport also had B as character 10.

This got me all excited, as it looks like I can get details on the XJ8's I am looking at, before I travel to see them. Unfortunately, two 2005's do not show anything under "minor features". Under features, just air conditioning, LHD, 6SPD etc. nothing I don't already know. OTOH, the 2008's I looked up have all the details. Just in case anyone is able to pull up details, the VIN is SAJWA79C45SG40077. (2005 XJ8 LWB). If I cannot bring up the minor features, I wonder if the dealer is able to. I will give them a call tomorrow.

Too early a Model Year for the full Minor Details to be generally available through TOPIx. As you have found, only the Features are available.




A Jaguar Dealer would be able to access the full specification through the Direct Dealer Warranty System which is NOT publicly available.

I sorry to say my reply to an earlier request in post #24 also applies to your X-Type. Jaguar aren't retrospectively adding all vehicle details to TOPIx and only the basic specification is available for yours.

TOPIx doesn't give much detail for a 2001:





For older models, any Jaguar Dealer can print the full details from the Direct Dealer Warranty System.
