Default Front Passenger Door won't open

Have a 2016 XJL. 36619 miles. I've pulled on both, the exterior and interior door handles and the door will not open.

Welcome to the forums Lanezz,

The door latch in your XJL is a similar design to that in my XK. It's an electro-mechanical device but the interior handle has a direct cable link to the latch which should open it if the electrics fail.

The passenger door module has an individual fuse which protects no other circuit and it's possible that has blown. Alternatively, the unlock signal may not have functioned when you opened the vehicle and that door is still in locked mode. Try locking and alarming the vehicle again and then unlock it as normal.

Thank you Graham. I'll have someone look at it and let you know how it worked out.

Do you have closing assist? If you do, the assist motor is most likely stuck in close mode. There is a process in TOPIx to disconnect cable. Its a pain, but it works.

Yes. I do have closing assist. I also noticed that when I looked in the trunk compartment near the spare tire, I saw what looks like an orange light and I think I heard a beeping sound.
