Default Oil change.

Dear all,
as my 20016 3.0 F-type S RWD is due for an oil and filter change and I intend to be changing the oil and filter much more often than recommended by the factory, is it possible instead of the recommended Castrol edge professional SAE 0W-20, to use the plain Catrol edge SAE 0W-20? Also, how many litres should I buy?

Kypros, how many miles are you going between oil changes? If you are going 10K+ miles oil change intervals, DON'T. Odds are you will hurt something. If you only put on say 2K miles a year and are rotating the oil because it is a year, then OKish. Not feeling really good about it. I would look on like Amazon and they sell the gold bottle Castrol Edge 0W-20. I ran that in my cars for years (5.0L) and never had any issues. With the Castrol stuff getting hard to find, I have switched over to LiquiMoly and I buy it through Amazon. Costs the same as the Castrol AND it has the JLR spec on the bottle. I would personally go with the LiquiMoly and call it good. Oil is one of those things that I do not skimp on as I know the cost of a new engine (especially for these cars) pays for way too many oil changes. So, an oil change is cheap insurance for keeping your engine for a long time. Kinda like I get the Jaguar filters through E-bay for like $14 each (I buy 6 at a time). Can't really beat the deal.

Agreed, change the oil at least twice as often as the factory schedule and get the LiquiMoly and forget chasing the Castrol Unobtainium.
Each fill is 7.25 litres so 3 x 5 litre bottles will do nicely for two oil changes with a little to spare.

Thank you for your answer, I can still get the Castrol edge here in Cyprus, but the filter idea of getting it cheaper on eBay is brilliant and saves some money.
I intend to change the oil every year or 4000 miles, whichever comes first as a cheap insurance to replacing the engine.

Go with the LIquiMoly, it will run the same amount and keep things simple. Besides, if the dealership wants to give you grief about "not running the correct oil", you can show them the LIquiMoly and it will shut them up where the lower Castrol oils do not have the certification. Just my 2 cents. Going out to 4K miles, I would be using the Gold Castrol or the LIquiMoly.

Thank you for your answer,
after some research with the help of a friend who is a professional in the oil business, he told me that the Mobil ESP X2 OW20 has the same properties as the recommended Castrol we use.
